I don't have the exact model number of my Sylvania 13" TV with me here at work and I think it's a different model number than this one, but the TV looks very much the same as the one pictured. I lost the remote and need to get my TV into "game mode." I have tried and tried and can't figure out how to do it. I bought an RCA Universal Remote and I can't do it with that either. Please help me!

Without a model number, how can we know the circuit inside it, and can provide a solution to your problem? If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
I need the exact model number to your Sylvania TV to post a solution to this problem. You've given its serial number of it here; of no use. Note the model number marked at the back cover of your TV and inform it to me please.
The fact sound works for a moment when power button is held and that you have to unplug to turn off or on means not a circuit problem but that the set is likely in the tech mode or service adjust mode.
I think the best way to resolve this is call Philips (they are Sylvania, Magnavox, and Philips) customer service with the model number and talk to a tech (not the idiots in CS) who will know how to exit this and what the code means--code will tell the tech what is going on.
You haven't described anything about the model number of GE remote. Eventhough it is universal remote, it will have a model number. Model number is necessary for us to give you correct codes. I hereby give you code for Sylvania combo. Check it with.
The code for Sylvania TV/DVD combo with GE RM 24912 universal remote is:
Check this code with your present GE remote. Sometimes it may match. OK.
I have an RCA Universal Remote Control for replacing 4 remotes and it lists 12 different codes for Sylvania TVs. As far as I know they don't usually list them by model number. There is also a site called NewRemoteControl.com where I found two generic remotes for your model and each of them was listed at around $18.00 American. I'm not sure what the cost of universal remotes in your area are but, if I were you I think I would also consider that.
Sorry Sarge...this problem is not that simple...and for some reason these Sylvania tv's won't allow you to access game mode that easy. I think the best idea (assuming the universal remote doesn't work out)...just buy another ORIGIANL remote from the manufacturer! Hooowah!
Unless the TV has a front-panel menu button and allows you to switch modes from there, you are out of luck. There are two possibilities. One is to try another replacement remote. If you get a universal remote made by the TV manufacturer (Magnavox), it may have buttons that will work. The other option is to purchase an RF converter, which will cost around $15. This will take the video/audio signals from the game and convert it to a channel 3 or 4 signal you can then tune in on the TV. The picture won't be quite as bright and clear as with direct AV input, but it will do the trick.
