Can't figure out how to open the case

Hi, I've been trying to get the case open to clear it of debris, but something near the rear of the scanner is keeping me from removing the bottom of the case. Any experience with this ?

Re: Can't figure out how to open the case

There may be lock system rather than a screw. Please see the lock and it will be opened by pressing a lock node(s) or aplying the force in a paticular direction. Do not try to open force fully. Refer manual of scanner if there are instruction to open the case.

Panasonic Hi-speed scanner

I am not sure if you have the manual for it so here it is just in case.
Since there are many steps to opening it to clean, the problem may be reassembling it. You can also unplug it and leave it off for 30 minutes to reset its internal memory. You can also press Start and hold it for 5 sec and do the same with the menu button. If after trying this, your machine does not reset, let me know.

We have replaced the pick roller and the scanner properties are not allowing us to reset the pick roller count (the clear option is not available as per pages 105 or 112 of the operator's guide).

Hi Tiffany,

This seems you've logged in to your PC as user. The clear option is sometimes not highlighted in user login. You need to login as Administrator to reset the count.

Thanks & regards,

Hi a vertical line is in image scanned please tell me how to solve this problem thanks

The lines are due to dirty scanner mirror. The printer/ scanner design is based Sheet-Fed Scanner. Open/Lift the scanner top (by pullung it near the area where you feed the paper to scan). Look out for the horizontal mirror and use a soft, damp, lint-free cloth to gently clean the scanner mirror, rollers etc. and enjoy clear scanning!

Good Luck!
Hope this helps! Dont forget to appreciate the solution!!

Scanner is not taking the pages and it is showing error message 4401

Please explain the problem more clearly.
Switch on the scanner, load some papers and try 'page count'. If it works, then there is no problem with tray lifting or paper movement. If this is not working, try 'Qumatool' and give a command to lift the paper tray. If it lifts, then the problem is with a sensor under the paper lifting tray. (It may not be in HP - Home position). If the tray is not lifting, then you may have problem with motor. S. Mohan, Chennai, India

Last page always get caught in the scanner. What's wrong with it?

That is one jealous piece of paper. But seriously, there are two likely causes:

1. There is a separation pad on the bottom of the tray that the paper feeds into. If the pad is too dirty or has any debris on it it will hang the last sheet. The prior sheets do not touch this pad, only the paper.

2. Be sure the paper path is clear and no other debris or "gunk" is catching the last sheet near the outer edges.

Clean and dry the feed roller (s) with a very mild soapy solution, such as a few drops of Palmolive Liquid Detergent and a good amount of water with a soft cloth. This is a safe cleaner for most surfaces, too, by the way. Clean your optics/scanner assembly with this first, then with a mild glass cleaner.

Good Luck!

Opening an older HP Scanjet 3300C case ??

I recently picked up a SJ 3300Cse and have the same issue.

On mine, on the top of the scanner near the hinges there are two small white rubber peices that are very well camoflaged. If you remove them you'll see the two screws to open the hinge side of the case.

Good Luck.

I have lines through all my scans all of a sudden

If you lift up or open the auto feed you should gain access to a small sliver of glass underneath the autofeeder. Clean that glass with alcohol or some other glass cleaner. That should clear this up.

If any debris get on that glass the result is dark lines caused when the page travels over that part of the glass. Hope this helps. Let me know.

ADF document feed

Hi, The problem seems to be a piece of debris , paper stuck in the ADF roller assy. You can check this by opening up the adf cover and inspecting the paper path. I have seen where a very small peice can cause paper path problems to where something is blocking the paper> Good Luck!
