At first the machine would start normally, but the as it got through first cycle it would pause, with 2 lights between short and long wash and 1 light between rinse and spin start blinking and the machine starts beeping. Only button that would work was "pause".Sometimes the lid switch light would come on and it would finish the remaining cycles.Second time around it displayed all symptoms as explained above, than a slight burning smell and the washing machine just dies.No Power at all. What is wrong? Is it fixable?Do i need to buy a new Machine. Please help. P.S Machine is 5 years old,Should they last longer? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

...most likely the balance sensor, a small contact switch behind the main control panel that is telling the machine it is out of balance, more likely the switch and/or contacts have corroded...

I had the same problem. I unplugged the machine for a while (overnight) and it then worked properly when I plugged it back in. Probably just a circuit board issue that was cleared with the power removed.

I am having the same issue and hope someone can post a solution. I have found a work around though. Mine does it when it is on a 'Regular' wash cycle, I found that if I put it on Permanent Press it works fine.

Although the machine itself is balanced, it sounds like the drum isn't. Since it's not held in place with belts, it has a tendency to float some and on occasion, it will become unbalanced. You will notice it more often on lighter loads than heavy because the extra weight of the clothes is enough to seat the drum well enough to run. It's the lighter loads when you will notice an issue. What I've done is to physically lift the drum slightly and shake it around in all directions. After letting it come to a rest in the center, it should balance and run correctly for all loads.
