Remove power steering pump on a 2007 chevy avalanche

Power Steering Pump Replacement « on: 05/04/07 06:28 PM » I recently had to replace the power steering pump in my 1500 Z71 Av and tried following the manual. My mistake. If anyone has to do this replacement, this is a much easier way:

1. Disconnect the battery
2. Take the upper fan shroud off.
3. Take the skid plate and whatever that plastic thing in front of the skid plate is off
4. Disconnect your power steering lines and the wire from the back of the power steering pump
5. Take the alternator out (2 bolts, one nut, one wire connector)
6. Take the nut off that attaches the right angle bracket from the power steering pump to the engine
7. Take the bracket for the power steering pump and the alternator off the front of the engine.
8. Then you can get to the power steering pump with no trouble at all. Goes back in pretty easy too.

Happy motoring. Hopefully no one else breaks the power steering pump shaft in half, but I'm sure someone will.

Have a window unit here in Afghanistan. The compressor kicks off and on. I have cleaned the evap & cond. Is there anyway to bypass the hi pressure switch? Its a Wirlpool ACM124PS 1. Thanks! Tim

It sounds as though the outside fan is having a problem. Has someone replaced it? Is the fan in a shroud ? . I am afraid that if you by pass the switch you may cause the unit to fail as I am not certain as to what is causing it to kick out on the HP switch. Could also be over charged? could be outside fan . I need a bit more on this..

Unit just stopped working. Power is being supplied to the unit.

There can be a trip switch or timer that has cut off, remove power and power after an hour. If the AC does not power on then start from the power cord to the panel, if there is control panel the power to the unit could have failed and so the functions are dead . Also check the main relay to the compressor.

Geno, Thanks for the reply. Ironically I found the website this afternoon that you sent me links to later. Thanks for your kindness. If I get someone else the problem is continuity test on both...

Hi Tom,

I'm not Geno-- But maybe I can pick up where he left off?

First you say you did a continuity test on the heater elements-- What was the Ohms on each?

Now to the Voltage measurements:
You say you have voltage to the upper-- but not the lower--
That is normal on a cold tank-- That way you can get HOT water faster, that waiting for the whole tank to heat (as from the bottom element-- Make sense?

Until we know if the elements are OK-- the voltage checks are a bit pre-mature.

So-- With power shut OFF, and the wires lifted from the heating elements,
What are the ohms across the heater elements themselves?
(It should be low-- in the 3 or 4 ohms?-- but NOT OPEN! (which is infinity..)

What do you get?

All our our Panasonic Split Type air conditioners in our plant do not operate when power source is taken from a power generator set but the Carrier brands operates well. What could be the reason for this...

The genset power most likely is 220V line to ground power. You utility power is 220V line to line but uses 2ea 110 VAC line inputs to get that 220VAC. The only way to correct this is to reconfigure your generator connection to 220V line to line IF possible. Some generators that only have a 220V output. Re-configuration is not possible

Measure power at the breaker on gen power as the source and again with the utility as the source. You will see the difference in voltages. Utility power.... each side of the Breaker output to ground = 110V across the 2 terminals 220V

Gen power one side of the breaker output = 220V other side = ZERO.

You can make it work but it would take some heavy duty relays in a power sub paenl so that when the generator is running one side of the power is 220V and the other side is Ground. Once utility power is restored the relays would disengage and power would again be 220 VAC line to line.

You will need a licensed electrician and a PERMIT to install a relay panel such as I mentioned above. Improper wiring of the power relay swtitching panel can cause major power problems in any given installation and trip the MAIN PWR breaker.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Want to fix squealing noise and need to know where oil ports would be to lube Wirlpool, hampton bay model #BMAC1830ASO

Usually there are no lubrication required. The noise is probably a fan bearing. Try oil, but the fan motor may have to be changed

Not sure if you have fixed yet, but I had the same problem on my AP148D. There are 2 fans, 1 for the condenser (base of unit) and 1 for the evaporator (top of unit). My condenser fan disintigrated. Go to his web site and you will find a parts list for this model, and a distributer list

Call this number and they have the parts in stock : 800-313-8495, mine shipped overnight. The parts are :

AC-8000-27 Wheel-blower condenser $21.81

AC-8000-26 Wheel-blower evaporator $21.81

I suspect you will need the first part. Hope this helps. Be careful to note where all the screws come from when dismantling !!!!
