Hello,My tv will not get our local stations 2,3,4,5,6 etc. I have cable and it recieves all the cable channels but not the local ones.I have checked and the channels are not blocked.the vcr will not play either.I removed the cable from the vcr and hooked it directly to tv and still same results. My other tv's work fine so its not a cable issue.

Hey thanks for the help.I was able to get those channels working by using the A/V outputs on my VCR but aggravating switching around channels etc.but a great temp fix.Let me ask you this,,,Is the tuner the unit that also switchs the bands VHF and UHF back and forth?? I think maybe the switching contacts are stuck and that is why I'm able to view the higer channels and not the lower ones.Is this tuner soldered in or does it plug in??I have not taken the back of the TV off yet and looked at it and was wondering if perhaps I could dismantel the tuner and clean it up with some type of contact cleaner???thanks for your help...

Thanks Benimur,
I have found a tuner for $49.00 on the net.Is this tuner hard to replace? Does it plug-in or does it require a lot of soldering? Thanks again

We have an old RCA floor model tv and all of a sudden we have lot all our UHF channels. When I went into programming it said they were erased. I re-instated them but that didn't work. This tv was given to us and there is no book available. Is there an electronic problem or is there something I can fix?

Hi,
Based on your post/description, it would appear that the TV tuner of the RCA is at fault. Chances are the the VHF Low is not working right but the VHF High is. This is an inshop repair probably requiring component replacement. You may want to confirm by checking your TV's setup in the menu, you should have Cable selected instead of Air or STd and do a Memory + (scan and add channels). If still a no go, then back to the tuner suspect.
The VCR will not display any movie since it normally transmits in Channel 3 (which is VHF Low). If there are no other problem with the VCR then you might still be able to use it by connection it to the A/V inputs of the TV.
If the VCR works in A/V mode, then perhaps you may want to save the repair expense of the RCA TV and use the tuner of the VCR to watch TV and switch channels.
Post back should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.

Hi again,
Since you are now able to watch "local stations 2,3,4,5,6 etc." based on your recent post, then your main problem is solved.
As to try and repair the TV using contact cleaner, am afraid it will not work. Your particular model doesn't use the rotary channel selector where there are tiny finger tips selecting some coils and capacitors to tune to a channel. Rather your particular model uses a tuner block with a PLL based tuning system - it is digital and there are no electro-mechanical parts.
Cheers.

I would guesstimate the connection points to be between 4 - 7 plus 4 grounding ends. There might also be 1 or 2 lug-in type connector.
