You can probably tighten it from the bottom. But first, get a little plumber putty from the hardware store and put it around the seal from the topside of the sink. As you tighten it down, it will squeeze out a bit, but that is okay. Good luck!

Why is my kitchen sink leaking?

I think you should identify the problem at first)

1. A pressurized water hose leak
These will be really obvious - they'll be spraying pretty much constantly and creating a big mess.

2. A leak in the drain line
These will only become apparent when you turn your tap on and let the water drain away.

3. A faulty sink drain seal
If a leak doesn't appear in either case, try filling the sink with water, then let it drain away. This would suggest the issue is your drain seal.

A little bit of observation, trial and error should help you to work out which one of these issues is causing your leak.

How do I fix my kitchen sink drain?

Underneath most sinks there is a "P" trap leading to the drain line which goes out to the outside sewer system. Occasionally the drain line is simply loose and needs tightening by hand or lightly with a wrench. (do not over tighten) If not, loosen the fitting(s), removing the drain line and replacing the seals is in order. These seals can be purchased at most hardware stores. Be sure to have a small bucket handy to catch water residue in the "P" trap once removed and, be sure to clean and wipe all ends of the pipe prior to reassembly so the seals will work properly.

Why does my washing machine (located in the laundry room) back up into my kitchen sink

I it hard to believe that a sink full of water will drain "freely" if the washing machine machine water will not. My suspect is that a minor blockage exists in the main sewer drain line-AFTER the point of connection of the washer. A cleanout point probably exists near that point of connection. Please use it to clear the line.

Hello! I have an issue with my maytag dishwasher model number MDB6100AWQ. It is running, and it goes to drain, and slowly starts leaking onto my kitchen floor! We took it out about a year ago and...

check the door gasket. check that it is draining. disconnect drain line from under sink ad put into a bucket. most likely it isn't draining ad is overflowing.

Miele novitronic w830. Drain wont work. I've cleaned the outlet of dirt and the wheel inside the outlet is spinning freely. Reggadles, red light comes up.

Hi,

Have you tried checking the drain spigot under the sink where the waste hose connects as it can be blocked at this end?
Try draining the unit into a bucket instead of the sink this will eliminate the washing machine as being the problem if it works ok.

is the drain pump actually turning? select drain or drain spin and have the fluff filter (outlet) removed so you can see if it is turning. if it isn't turning there maybe a broken wire to the drain pump causing it not to turn or the drain pump is jammed with something although you mentioned you could spin it freely.

hope this helps

Kitchen sink clogged up , ran a roto rooter that you buy at the stores through the outside access and nothing happened. did the plunger thing on the sink and again its still backed up. I thought that...

Check the traps on the sink for clog and maybe if it has a turn in the wall it may be clooged .

You can disassemble the drain under sink and try and auger there.

Or if you can get acces to an air tank you can make up a fitting to screw on drain under sink and put air on it to try and free blockage.

Blocked sink maybe equalls non spin or drain of washer

It depends on where the sink is blocked, and how the washing machine plumbing is set up.

If the sink is blocked in the p-trap under the sink, and the washing machine does not drain to that trap, then it's a separate problem.

That being said, if this is in fact the way the washing machine is plumbed, then it indicates that there is not an air gap between the washing machine hose and the drain. There must be an air gap or the washer will likely not drain, regardless of how it is plumbed to the sink or not.

Reply back with further information, or if you need clarification. But yes, the sink being plugged could be the cause of the washer problem, or may just be coincidental and not have anything to do with it.
