Dryer takes many cycles to get clothes dry

A clothes dryer is as simple as heat and airflow just like a hair dryer. If you have heat then you are probably lacking airflow. Check that the vent is not crushed or pinched behind the dryer and also make sure the main line is not full of lint or anything else that could be blocking airflow. You already have discovered the problem. Lint has built up in the vent / exhaust ducting. Most of the time the through the wall vent flapper gets lint build up on it outside the house and then as that restricts airflow you get condensation in the ducting. The condensation causes the lint to form a cake like paste inside the ducting. THOROUGHLY Clean out your vent ducting from the dryer connection all the way thru the outside wall and your dryer will be fine. If you need to replace the ducting please do so. Ducting is cheaper than the electricity you waste on clogged ducting. You proved your dryer will work correctly when you dried a load of clothes with the ducting removed.

To make sure it is a vent problem ,Do one load without the vent hose attaching to the wall ,keep in mind that it may blow out some dust, you may want to cover the end of vent hose with a nylon stocking for just this ONE time.Now run this 1 cycle on a timed dry cycle at the highest mark...60, 70,etc.If the clothes are dry at the final stopping point than you know your vent is blocked.Or you pinched the vent hose closed.It only takes a small blockage to create alot of waiting time for dryer to end its cycle.The faster the air can get out of the dryer the faster it dries.
