Curve BOTH side screen AND ZOOM

You should direct your attention to the East/West correction
circuit. If the line output transistor was replaced due to it having
gone short circuit, damage to this circuitry is likely. Also check the horizontal driver transformer for dry joints, a fault here will cause random failure of the line output transistor

I have a tedelex ec29187 with a funny picture. The sides seem to be bend inwards. A guy said they call it a east west problem. Help me with a solution please.

Ity is an East West porblem [Pin-cushion distortion] itself. You ahve to check its pin cushhion circuit to detect faulty component/s.

My goodmans TV has changed it's picture to a goldfish bowl effect. It has not got widescreen settings as it is over 10 years old. I have tried turning the set off and on but it has not changed it? Any...

This sounds like what is referred to as an East-West fault. This is caused by initaillly a poor solder connection, but then can cause a capacitor, a diode and occassionally the E-W transistor to fail. You will need to take it to a repair centre.

hi not familiar wih the model, but your fault lies in the east west correction circuit.excessive width usually means a short circuit e/w modulator diode, with the curved sides.normally,a narrow picture with curved sides points do dry jointed/open circuit polyester capacitor.if a firm slap has an effect, then its most likely a dry joint which makes for an easy life.the vast majority of east west correction circuits are based in tle line output stage, and generally not complex to fix.hope this helps, regads, look for s/c by 299 and by 228 diodes, check those..

Black circles on both sides ov tv

This fault is referred to as an East-West pin-cushion fault. Depending on the make and model, it can mean that some capacitor(s) have failed (dried-out) or a single medium power transistor or both in the pin-cushion correction circuit have failed.

In any event it isn't a very big problem to fix. A competent technician nearby ought to sort it out quickly. Also, if you area tech then please post additional information on the make and model and you'll get more technical data. Good luck.

Hi. Im not at all familiar with your make of TV set, I am in the UK we dont have RCA make of TV. But what you are discribing is an East/West fault this is a common problem on all TV sets. It could be quite a few things that can cause this eg (make adjustments in engineers mode, E/W coil burnt up, Resistors or caps burnt up) Its not an easy repair for a novice to tackle It requires fault finding & being able to read A meter. Usually not exspensive to put right by A shop.
