I just connected a 1tb Verbatim Drive to my Mac to download Quicktime files for FCP and all I got for my troubles was a frozen screen with the dialogue box "USB Device drawing too much power".
It draws power from the mains ok, but as soon as I connect it to my Mac with the USB cable, I get the same alert. I tried a brand new USB cable and got the same alert.
Do I need a disk?
Do I need to holler at the damn Producer who gave me the piece of ****?

- I am a film editor and work on Macs using Final Cut Pro so unfortunately don't have access to a PC.
plug it then go to the disk utility. which is in "application, utility folder, disk utility"
do you see it in there in the left corder besides your normal drives.

- also makesure you are using the apple mac power adaptor too not just on the battery

- and dont connect the usb to the keyboard. connect it to the main usb at the rear or side of the computer. dont connect it to an extention cable either.
