Question about Kenmore 2.1 cu. ft. Portable Top Load Washer

Will not advance to the rinse and spin cycles...

I purchased a 2.1 cubic ft. portable kenmore washer: Sears item #02644722000 Mfr. model #44722. A total of 2 washers were delivered on different dates and they both suffered from the same problem. The washer performed the wash and spin cycle perfectly but, would not advance to the rinse cycle... the washer would just sit there and buzzed for 15 mins. Sears has kindly offered to send a tech out to look at it or deliver yet a 3rd new washer at no charge. I wondering if this is a know or common problem with this model and or can it be fixed easily? Should I purchase another brand? Or should I let Sears make good and hope the 3rd washer will work properly AND for many years to come. These portable washers are a bit on the expensive side. So I would hope to keep it for several years. Thank you... brion~

Thanks for your responces, more are welcomed. I remember growing up with all Kenmore applicances so, I decided to let Sears try to make good one last time. Since the washer goes through the wash and spin cycle fine. It's the rinse cycle is where it stops and buzzes. I was thinking the problem might be a sofware program glitch in the control panel... and it needs to be replaced or reprogramed? I will keep you posted on this new and 3rd washer coming next week. Lets hope the 3rd times the charm. Wish me luck... Thanks again, brion~

I am having a similar problem with this machine. I purchased this from a friend almost a year ago. It has been working fine up until the last couple months. It's like the water dosen't want to drain after the cycle has reached that point. All the lights on the top are just flashing but the machine isn't moving...so I went and purchased a new hose for the machine. This solved the problem for about 2 weeks now I have the same problem. Somebody Help! Before I toss this thing

My 2.1 cubic ft. portable kenmore 44722 does the same thing. Only had this 1.5 years and it does not want to drain unless I push on it real hard than it will dranin and spin. Also the lights will all come on and I have to unplug and start all over. This washer does not tell you if it is washing or rinsing.

Brion, 2 new washers, same problem doesn't sound good! I hope that the 3rd one will work perfectly for many years. In case you will face this problem again, you should ask Sears for another brand washer. Good luck!

The buzzing can only be that the pump if sticking or the inlet valve is sticking, other than that it is lack of water supply. Regards Advisor

What cu. ft washer in a model 110-82870120 top load kenmore washer.

you can find out by measuring the depth of the tub in inches. Measure the diameter of the tub at the opening where you put the clothes in. Multiply those 2 numbers. Then divide the figure by 144 which is a cubic foot in inches. That will Give you the cubic feet.

Example Depth of 23 inches and diameter of 21 inches. 23X21= 483/144 = 3.35 cu. ft.

Model # 44722 Portable Washer Are you suppose to open washer to balance load while washer is in spin? I did and the tub stopped abrutly moveing the machine about 1 foot across the floor.

a safety mecanisim built into washers is the top lid switch it detects when the lid has been opened if you do this whilst its spinning it will engage a powerful brake as you saw to stop the barrel so you dont reach in and loose an arm its perfectly normal. if the washer goes unbalanced wait turn the power off at the wall wait till it stops spinning then re arrange the cloths

best of luck

I need to get the hose adapter for my portable kenmore washer 44722 can you help me?

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:

Enter your model number (###.#######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

You may be able to find a hose adapter on the site.

Also check the Sears site:

for PDF manuals and you may find a suggestion in one of them.

Kenmore top load portable washer, model 110.42722200

i had same prob. at my daughters house, similar model. first time a hose popped off the top(i removed the lid), later i noticed leaks because my son in law was using oxy clean and it foamed over. my advice is, put machine on its side and look for loose/popped off hoses, dont use too much soap or additives, which will trick the water level sensor or just pour over that little drum

Lid problem

A common easy fix for this problem is making sure the screws on the hinges (right and left side of the lid) are tight. Loose screws will cause it not to properly srike the lid switch and the unit wont run since it thinks the lid is open. If they are tight, you will probably need to replace the lid switch itself.
