Water flow issue

Problem #1 - My Steamvac is not Sucking!
If your Hoover Steamvac was working properly and suddenly it is not sucking any water, nine times out of ten, the culprit is the lid on the lower recovery tank. The lid on the lower tank (or dirty water tank) needs to hinge at the front and snap down at the back in order to creat a proper seal. If the lid snaps on but is not locked on at the front, you will not get any suction. Simply take the lid off, and ensure that when you put it back on, it must hinge on the front tabs of the tank.
Problem #2 - My Steamvac is still not Sucking!
Right now you are thinking that you shouldn't have let your brother borrow your Steamvac. And you are right, because he used the hose attachment and returned it with the hose still attached to the front of the tank (some models only). Now when you try to use it there isn't any suction. In this case, you are missing your tank duct. On models where the stair/upholstery hose attaches to the front of the recovery tank, one must remove a square plastic piece in order to attach the hose. This square plastic tank duct must be replaced before the Steamvac will operate properly in the upright position. hope this helps ive copied it

Yes, one thing to try: With the hose attached, place your hand over the suction opening at the pick-up end of the hose. Then pull the trigger. The pump is suction driven, and if there is air in the water line in the hose, that is known to allow th hose to prime in about 10 to 15 seconds.

I can sympathize. My vac came with two handheld attachments. I have better luck with the handheld attachment that doesn't have the spin-scrub pads. To keep the water from going all over the place, you need to keep the part the you hold only about 1 inch from the surface of the upholstery; if you hold it higher it gets everywhere; if you hold it lower the spray doesn't spread out wide enough and it just makes big water droplets that roll down the upholstry.

If the vac isn't sucking up the water, it is likely you have it set up wrong. Take off the attachment; if you put your hand over the open end of the tube, do you feel suction? When you are using the handheld attachments there is a rectangular piece you remove (attached to the dirty water tank) and you stick the rectangular part from the hose in there. If you are getting suction but it's just not sucking up any water try these 1) maybe you aren't laying down enough water, spray it more heavily OR 2) you need to **** up the water right after you lay it down. Don't let it soak in for more than a few seconds.

SOLUTION#1 If the attachment wont spray water, the white plastic nozzle tip may be clogged. Take the brush attachment off, remove the two screws from the gray retaining cover (BE CAREFUL THE WHITE TIP UNDER THE BLACK PLASTIC TRIGGER MECHANISM IS SPRING LOADED and WILL GO FLYING). The trigger mechanism can be taken apart by lifting the black part off (may have to slide it back slightly), remove the spring from the white plastic valve insert, then take a flat screw driver and carefully pry the two white pieces apart and blow out both ends. You may have to find a hair size piece of wire to push threw it to clear it. The whole process is really simple once you take it apart and see how it works. Putting it together is in reverse order. The white piece will only go in to the black part one way and with the spring on you need to push it through the hole and the trigger part hooks on, slide it back on to the hose, then while holding it all, and put the gray retaining cover back on. Sounds more difficult than it really is. If your not mechanically inclined take some pictures as your taking it apart to refer to.
Solution#2 If the nozzle and trigger are clear, with the trigger assembly off the hose, plug the hose into the shampooer and turn it on (if the hose inside the suction hose is clear you should start seeing water flowing out the hose. If not run a piece of wire through that hose to unclog it. If its still not flowing then the Pump on the unit needs to be replaced.
Solution #3Cost Around $20 with shipping online. Google your make and model, and upholstery attachemnt pump. Mine was called AP4561692 (43582018) PUMP ASSM, from http://www.appliancepartspros.com/. (there real good about the live chat and helping you find the part).There are Youtube videos on taking apart the shampooer, which is pretty easy. The one place that might give you problems after you get down to taking the pump off, there is only one screw holding but there is on the bottom side of the pump a black bump that clips in to the base of the shampooer and you need to stick a screw driver from the bottom up and pry the base one way and pull the pump the other to unhook it.

you almost have to open up the unit and follow the hoses from the handle into the base.fill it with solution and turn on pull triger.hold the triger in and turn off the unit keeping the triger pulled.turn off and start it up and try again.if it don't spray you might have a bad pump.open up the unit and see if all the hoses are hooke up.there should be a plug on the handle .is it plugged in.please leave feedback.i hope i was some help to you...pet

After the last use did you run a FULL tank of HOT water throught he machine to clear the lines and the pump? If not the soap has clogged one of the two. If it is the lines simply remove them (one at a time is less confusing) clear them and all is good. If it is the pump (white L shaped object back left corner of machine as you face it) you will have to go to a local vacuum repair shop and order the part.

I have a model I got in 2001. I found that the water sprayer on the hand tool is driven by a little turbine that relies on suction from the main vacuum motor. I eventually found that the spindle inside the turbine had separated and hence the hand-tool wouldn't spray. I glued it together but that only fixed the problem until it broke again. I am going to buy another (about $23).

When you attach the main suction hose to the front of the machine, you also have to connect the soultion hose to a valve located on the side of the machine. When the machine is running, take a small screwdriver and depress the centre of this valve. You should get a spray of water out of the valve which will confirm the valve and pump is working. Now, connect the small solution hose, making sure you push it on all the way. When you pull the trigger on the handle of the hose, you should get spray. If it does not, you may have a plugged nozzle sprayer.
