Re: USB connection

I would invest in a memory card reader. You can pick one up for under $20. Using a card reader allows you to avoid having to deal with drivers and such that may or may not be loaded on your PC. A card reader should work just fine for ya. Good luck

You mean clicked on USB mode. You should be able to find this memory stick as a drive by clicking on computer and looking under "Removable Storage". Just click on drive that pertains to this memory stick.

Why does camera close down when I plug USB cable to pc have replaced cable & batteries

As soon as you connect a camera to a computer, the camera shuts down, because it only can act as a "dumb" memory stick.
Only more advanced camera's and special programs allow the camera to be connected and be monitored on a computer.
Nikon has Camera Control Pro 2 for its DSLRs. Only the software is over 100 dollars.

When you have installed Kodak Picture easy software, you can connect the camera to the computer and then after you switch on the camera, you can download the pictures from the camera to the PC.

How do I download my pictures from my Sony camera to the computer?

Here is one instructional video tutorial from Sony Support; also could try this procedure:
- Take off your memory stick from your camera and insert it into your memory stick adapter. Open your camera's battery case and gently push the memory stick until you hear a faint "click," then remove it from the camera. Place the memory stick inside the adapter that comes with your camera.
- Insert the adapter into your computer's memory card reader, if you have one. The adapter, which is larger than the memory stick itself, is approximately the same size as an ordinary SD memory card.
- Connect your Sony digital camera to your computer using its USB cable if you can't find or don't have a memory stick adapter. Insert the small end of the USB cable into the camera. Insert the wider, flatter end into one of your computer's USB ports.
- Click "Open Device to View Files" to open your memory stick or camera. Search for the DCIM folder and click on it. Navigate through any photo subdirectories you've created and highlight photos you want to transfer to your computer. Right-click anywhere in a given folder, then click "Copy." Go to the location where you want to store your images, then right-click within that folder. Click "Paste" to transfer your images.

Hope this helps (remember to rate and comment this answer).

I cant download my pics from my camera to my new computer

I'm sorry to inform you that the camera is not compatible with new Operating Systems like Windows Vista, 7 etc. Hence it is not possible to connect the Camera to those computers with the supplied USB cable.
However, you can transfer the images using the Memory Stick slot on the Computer. Please remove the Memory Stick from the Camera, insert the Memory Stick slot on the Computer. If you doesn't have a Memory Stick slot, you may also purchase an external Memory Stick reader for cheaper price to resolve the issue.
Thanks for understanding.
Please get back to me if you need further assistance.

I need to know to download my pictures to PC

This depends on you PC and its capabilities.
OPTION A - Need the Sony USB Cable
The Sony Cybershot comes with a USB cable. You connect the cable to your camera and then to your PC USB port. Your PC should recognize the device as a camera or a drive and it will assign it a drive letter (similar to a hard drive). You can access the contents (pictures or videos) directly from the mounted drive, because it will treat your camera like a hard drive. Just make sure you hard drive
OPTION B - No Sony USB Cable If your computer has a multimedia drive, you can remove the memory stick from your camera (hatch door underneath camera) and stick into one of the slots on the multimedia drive on your PC. All computers come with multimedia drives and even some monitors have them built it. If you do not have one, I suggest you buy an external one; they are not expensive. Once you put the memory stick in the drive it will recognize it and a windows explorer window should automatically appear.
Let me know if this helps. Please rate and leave feedback.

Please follow the steps below for connecting the Camera to the Computer for transferring the images.

Turn the Camera ON.

Turn the Computer ON.

Make sure to Insert the Memory Stick in the Camera.

Set the USB CONNECT option in the Setup 2 Menu of the Camera to PTP. [Set the Mode dial of the Camera to Camera, press the Menu button, select SETUP-->SETUP2-->USB CONNECT-->PTP-->OK.]

Connect the Camera to the Computer using the supplied USB cable.

The Computer will automatically install the USB Driver for the Camera.

No space left on memory stick.

Hello Sir\Madam,
Most digital cameras do have an internal memory which may be minimal or too small to store your pictures or videos, because of this memory stick/card are always good for storing pictures and videos due to the fact that it has enough spaces to store you data. And you can easily transfer your picture from your camera to your personal computer by using the USB cable that came with your camera. As soon as u connect it to your computer, it will detect it and automatically install the driver that will make the connection to work well, or better still install first on to your system the software that came with your camera for easy connection of your camera to your computer, then on the camera, select "Mass Storage" from the USB connection mode, automatically your memory stick or card will be detected on your computer and you can them open the folder where all your pictures is stored to retrieve then to your computer. If you have any problem with this, don't hesitate to inform me back

Need a free download for my sony cyber shot dsc-w55 to download pictures on my computer

You do not need any Driver or Software to transfer the images from the Camera to the Computer.

1. Set the USB Connection or Transfer mode setting in the Camera menu to Mass Storage or Normal .

2. Connect the Camera to the Computer using the supplied USB cable or any USB cable.

3. The Computer will recognize the Camera (make sure that the recording media containing the pictures (Memory Stick) is inserted in the Camera).

4. Click the Start button and then click the "My Computer" icon (for XP Operating System and for Vista or Windows 7 it will be "Computer" icon).

5. In the "My Computer" or "Computer" window, click the icon that represents the Camera.

6. Click the "DCIM" folder and drag it to the desktop screen of the Computer to transfer the images from the Camera to the Computer.

However, you may download the supplied Picture Motion Browser software for the Camera from this Link.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

How do you upload pictures on the internal memory?

If you normally upload your pictures by connecting via the USB port, remove the memory stick before connecting the camera to the computer. If you normally upload your pictures by putting the memory stick into a card reader, use the camera's memory stick tool to copy the pictures from internal memory to memory stick.
