94 Golf CTI Fuel pump problem

My fuel pump normally makes a buzzing like sound. I had a feeling that it may stop functioning. A week ago whilst driving the engine just cut off, when trying to start her again I noticed that the fuel pump was not making the buzzing sound anymore. Could it be that the fuel pump needs to be replaced or is there fuses, etc that I can look at before purchasing a new one.

Yes the fuel pump is supposed to buzz and so if it has stopped buzzing then it is simply not working. There is a fuse and a relay for the pump, to check, you can also run a feed straight from the battery to the pump, this will tell you if the pump is dead or not.

If u could hear the much noise from the pump it was failing, so yes u will need a new fuel pump, but 1st check the fuel pressure to confirm this, they are not cheap.

Suffocates when i press the gas pedal

Could be fuel delivery issue. Does the car have enough fuel in the tank? Check that the air filter is clean and if it is, than check the fuel pump. Do this by turning the key to the on position and listening for a buzzing sound for a few secconds near the back of the vehicle. If you hear the buzz, than the fuel pump is fine. If all this fails to help, try and have the fuel filter replaced. Good luck!

Car just shuts off while driving

I would suspect a bad fuel pump. Fuel pressure test will confirm this. Can also be a clogged fuel filter, or bad relay.

Loud electrical fuel pump buzzing whilst engine running ona mk2 golf

Time to change the intank fuel pump, it may last a day or longer. I thought longer and ended up broke down 250 miles from home and had to pay a mechanic to replace instead of doing it myself.

If i stop or let idle i feels like its being starved for fuel.. turn off the engine and start it again it runs fine till i stop again. Just replaced the fuel pump a week ago and has been running fine.

Mine did that to me about 4 months ago. I started by changing the fuel filter it ran great for a month. but by doing that it released all the pressure off of the fuel pump which then went out. If you run your vehicle below 1/4 tank it starves the fuel pump. The pump needs that fuel because; The fuel is the lubrication for the pump. Running your tank down consistently over a period of time will short the pump out faster.

Wont start

turn the ignition to the ON position and check to see if you can hear the fuel pump making a buzzing sound. if it doesnt make a buzzing sound, the the fuel pump isnt working. if the fuel pump sint working, then check the fuse in the fuse box under the hood.
