LCD Monitor is black. The camcorder records audio. I believe I have the fade black on and cannot get it off. I turned on the outside camcorder light as I was standing in front of a mirror...I saw the beam of light...that is all.

you can go to http://service.us.panasonic.com/operman/ there you can get the owners manual start on page 60 that is where we got mine i have a quasar vm-L153
