'll describe whats going on to you.. Recently the laptop hasnt been turning on at all, we thought it might be the chargers fault. But the charge battery is coming on and turning off like a second later, Im thinking that its because the battery is fully charged. I pushed the button on the back of the battery and it showed all five of the circles lit up, saying the battery is charged. When we push the power button the charge light flashes rappidly then stops. There is no light up on the screen, there is no keyboard light, nothing. Just rappid flashing on the charge light when i push the power button. I don't know what to do, but I'm hoping to be able to fix it. I am currently on my Macintosh, which SUUUUCKS!!!!
This is a common problem that I run into. The battery will show charged when it really isn't. Take out the battery, plug the charger into the computer and try turning it on. If this works, you have a bad battery and it will need to be conditioned or replaced. If this doesn't work it could be a serious hardware issue.
Testimonial: "I tired that also, but the charger was one I bought off ebay and isnt a genuine dell charger. I'm not sure if it is the charger that is the problem or not. But I'm getting so frustrated by this. I took the bottom off of it last night and took the ram out and put it back in to see if it was because it was jammed. But it wasnt at all. The problem is that I have a lot of time on my hands to fix the problem, but not a lot of money. I hope someone can help me with this(:"

Norm.. Suffice to say these are a problem. Is it a P35 Adapter? If so look for a replacement and retry. If this does not help Check the CMOS battery voltage as crazy as it may seem but the Dell adapters are a little more complicated than a standard 2 wire output adapter. They have a 19V Feeder or main supply, The Negative or Ground as some people/techs call it as well as a 3.3V data circuit thats related to the Embedded controller chipset, BIOS and other circuits on the board. Also see if you can find a friend local with a known good working battery/adapter if you cannot afford or dont want to spend money on it. If all else fails yell back weve repaired a ton of these and they should have been included in the 5150/5160 Dell Class settlement in my opinion as they have a ton of similar components/issues..
Good Luck! Ken

You have a ground fault issue in the DC JACK.
There are escentially 4 circuits in the jack and one is not making contact.
1: Negative Charge circuit (outter ring)
2: Negative Run circuit (outter ring)
3 Positive (Inner Ring)
4: Signal (center pin)
I believe the negative charge circuit (outter ring) is not making contact internally. Typically what happens on that model DC Jack is the tension contact metal becomes fatigued, and does not touch the outter ring.
This could come from Heat causing early fatigue of the metal.
Or normal wear, the metal has simply worn out from regular insert/removal.

That usually indicates battery is beginning to go bad. Eventually it will not hold a charge and will need to be replaced.

Hello,
Please plug also the power cord to the power source then wait for 10 - 20 minutes to charge the battery of your laptop then after the said time given above please turn on the laptop and see if your laptop is working now. Else if it is not then try to contact computer technician and let that person check the problem of your laptop Most of the problem causes of software and hardware.
