Started printing only the first 2 lines all of the sudden
We have a Z4MPlust printer installed with generic/text driver.
The application creates a text file with the following command and sends to the printer. It has been working correctly for years but it started printing only the first 2 lines all of the sudden. I am not sure what happened??? We never changed the code below and did not touch the printer configuration from the device. Any printer configuration I need to check? Please help me with any suggestion!!

You said all new cartridges.. But are they Epson Genuine Cartridges???? I had the same problem when I replaced with new, but generic cartridges.
After finally, going thru 2 sets of each, removed them and put in Genuine., and finally, everthing started printing fine. Weird , but true.
I suggested my answer problem below.

Problem for Epson Stylus C84 InkJet Printer Re: C84 I'm using generic ink, but the red
By mclamemo on Nov 12, 2009
re: C84 I'm using generic ink, but the red doesn't work at all. I've done all the printer cleaning programs and swabbed inside the printer with alcohol, and re-inserted the cartridge multiple times. it still doesn't print at all.
Also now even the black every few lines prints the top half of the line or the bottom half of the line, or its smeared, etc...

Rank: Wiz Expert Rating: 84%, 22 votes I have learned from experience, that Epson does not like generic ink. You must use Epson Genuine Cartridges. Hopefully, you haven't screwed up the printer, like I did. I did try cleaning the heads and doing everything possible. Use 2 cartridges of ech set, for cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. ......But Nothing. Had to go out and purchase a new printer.; Good Luck :0( Asker's Testimonial " Thank you. Called Epson also and they didn't say it as directly, but advised real Epson ink too. Hope I didn't kill the printer! Generic ink for sale " - mclamemo Comments: Nov 12, 2009 - Funny. hahahahah, Me too! I would say, about 2 dozen cartridges to be exact.
Go to Start | Control Panel | Printers And Other Hardware | Printers And Faxes. Double-click the icon for your printer to open the Documents window and clear any pending print jobs by selecting Cancel All Documents from the Printer drop-down menu
Try printing a test page from the printer, not from Windows XP.
Most printers have a built-in test function that's activated by holding
down one or more buttons while the printer is starting up. Check your
printer's user manual for instructions. If this page prints
successfully, you know the problem is either with your connection or
with the software in your computer.
Check your printer's USB or parallel connection.
Try printing something simple from Windows' Notepad. To open Notepad, go to Start | All Programs | Accessories | Notepad,
type a few lines of text in a document, and try printing it. If it
successfully prints, the problem is with the software program you
originally tried to print from.
Try printing using Windows XP's generic printer driver. Open and
run the Add Printer Wizard. When you get to the Install Printer
Software screen, select Generic under Manufacturer and Generic/Text Only under Printers (see Figure 2).
Select No for Do You Want To Use This Printer As The Default Printer? (see Figure 3). Click Next.
When prompted on the next screen, tell Windows XP to print a test
page. If the page successfully prints, then you probably have a problem
with your installed printer driver. Either update or reinstall the
driver.
possible issue is port configuration. if the generic text driver works, apd driver should work too.
what may be happen is that when you install the apd driver the other printer drivers that you have were still using the same port that your apd driver were using. example, you have generic txt assigned to lpt1 and then the apd were assigned on the same port, this is were you get the trouble.
what you must do is, first, check any printer driver that you have using the lpt, say for example, you generic text is using lpt1, when you install the apd driver set it to lpt2. apd drivers will create a new port normally called esdprt. try to use that port but if that will not work reassigned the port of your apd driver to lpt2 printer port then uncheck bi-directional support. from there you should be able to print..
hi
buy the looks of the problem it looks like you may have either faulty driver or a cable connect to the printer is not in correctlly
. I would try this test first install the Generic / text only driver and send a printer sample to the printer. if this prints ok it could be the driver your down loaded or problem with one of the line driver boards inthe printer.
as i understand, DPL will works if you are using a serial comunication. When you say "using Generic Text Driver" i can see you are trying to print snce parallel port, as any other prnter. If that is the case, you can forget the DPL. Install an apropiated DATAMAX printer driver, and print from Wordpad.
