I too have encountered this problem several times. Some steps to take would be...
1)Reset it with the paperclip in the small hole located just left of center on the front of the unit.
2)Consider your installation: I.e if it's installed on your cigarette lighter don't plug anything into it because you could short out TomTom.
3) I've had two units with failure for unknown reasons and they were promptly replaced.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Dutch sat-nav equipment maker TomTom's GO series includesthe compact, portable GO 910. The
device features a wide-screen four-inchdisplay with turn-by-turn voice instructions. 2 Place the TomTom outside inan open space without tall trees or large buildings around you, and the TomTomwill find the location. It can take up to five minutes when starting the TomTomfor the first time. The "Driving View" appears in color when the GOhas positioned itself.
3 Tap the screen to launch themain menu and touch "Navigate to" then "Address." Choosebetween "City Center,""Postcode" and so on. Type the details onto the screen using theletter-pad. Touch "Done" when you are finished and the TomTom willcalculate the route.

- if someone has used the wrong charger, and connected it to a 12V supply, the mainboard may be damaged. In that case, you need a replacement.
- the battery may be discharged. Even if the green light is on, it doesn't necessarily charge up. Try pushing it hard onto the mount for a few minutes, then see if it will turn on.
I had the same problem and discovered that the unit would not turm on even having been charged at home, the problem I found was that the unit was not charging from the mains charger for what ever reason but when placed back in my car hey presto (youll have to go for a reasonable journey to charge the internal battery up though) Hope this helps
Mine is about three weeks old and just did the same thing. I ahd been using it while walking in a town in Germany. So I did not even have power/docking or PC problems.
I reset the unit with a paper clip. Look in the mounting opening at the lower rear of the 910, there is a small cut out. press this carefully, mine is now back to life and did not even lose my 'recent' list.
