Question about Samsung LE26R73BDX 26 in. HD-Ready LCD Television

1 Answer

Need help Hi I have a Samsung HD digital TV ( LE26R73BDX )about a year old. Recently the DTV has stopped functioning. It only allows the use of channel 5. None of the controls work when I want to use DTV, not even D.MENU. So I can not reset the system at all. Somebody advised me to turn the TV on by pressing the buttons ?INFO, MENU, MUTE and POWER? in sequence and within 1.5 seconds in order to open the MENU screen, but it didn?t work. On the other hand the ordinary TV works perfect. Is there anything that I can do to resolve this problem? Yours Allen

Have the same problem my telly is 13 months old..... :-(

Mine started doing this about a month ago intermitently. Would switch it off and on again and it was fine. However, starting to happen more and more often, and having longer periods when DTV is totally unavailable - and all associated menus can't be accessed.

Have reset everything during the periods I've got access, but still no good. Would appreciate any insight anyone might have...

Ensure the tv is in analogue mode, not dtv and turn it off. with the remote: press info then, menu, then mute then power. these buttons need to be pressed sequentially not all at the same time and in quick succession. a menu will appear on the tv. navigate to the reset option and press the left arrow key on the remote (or press the enter/ok button) the tv will reset itself and turn off. turn the tv back on & it'll re tune all its channels. DTV should be working again.

Change the input to antenna.
If it says cable:
On your Samsung remote is a button that says antenna. You want it to say AIR. Air is an ATSC tuuner that allows you to receive over the air HD with a pair of rabbit ears.
If it says AIR:
If it says AIR and you still can't get the HD channels. In the menu it will say Channel. In that sub menu it will say autoprogram. Make sure you have an antenna connecte to AIR in the back of the set and autoprogram AIR only.

Could you please advise if our model Samsung TV. LE26R8 purchased in 2007 has the built in FREEVIEW tuner. Many thanks, Peter smart

Yes it does.
If you look on your remote there should be a dtv/atv button and a dtv menu button to tune it into dtv.

Samsung LE26R73BDX 26INCH - LOSS OF DIGITAL SERVICE

Solution that worked for me:

Beware: Although the process should be safe, it technically voids your warranty.

Enter the service menu:
1 - turn of tv with remote
2 - press and release in the following order on the remote: Info, Menu, Mute. Make sure remote is pointing at the tv
3 - turn on the tv from the remote
4 - you will see the service menu. using the down arrow on the remote select the Reset option. Using the right arrow button at this point will do a hard reset.
5 - Wait a few seconds, turn TV on
6 - you will have to rescan analogue and digital channel but it should be working now.

I followed your suggestion and it works! You certainly do push the
info
menu
mute
power buttons but I cannot remember the exact order.

I may have pressed them altogether, or in a quick sequence and it may have been in standby mode or switched on.

Fiddle with it, because it does work.

What will happen is that you will get a set of commands on the screen. Use the remote to get to RESET. At first I coudn't get this to work as I kept pressing the "enter" button in an attempt to select this option, but actually you just need to press the right arrow button to select it.

Reset comes into place. Wait a while and press a channel number, then just re-tune. You will have to re-tune anologue and digital. This works - please share with others. Eamonn
