Used our phone with no problems afew hours ago, but now I cannot phone out, there is no dial tone, nothing. A friend phoned me with now problems accouple of hours ago, and now nothing.

what does it mean what your phone is out of range

It may not be registed with the main unit. You may need to register the handset. With my uniden all i have to do is put it in the main base until it says what handset it is (it should be a number).

I just had the same problem. Try unplugging the plug from the electrical outlet for the home(base) unit and plugging back in. Fixed my problem right away.
