I will give you a step by step on your camcorder.

  • connect your camcorder using your USB cable to your computer and be sure it is ON
  • Install the cd driver camed with your camcorder. if you didnt prompt on looking for a driver then go to the add hardware on the control panel and follow the procedure there.
  • after the installation you should see the icon on the my computer labeled scanners and cameras and indicating the model of your camcorder.
  • Install Ulead Power Producer or any editing movie that you have like Windows movie maker, nero movier maker etc.. i prefer to use Ulead because its so easy to use
  • after uploading and editing your videos using ULEAD save it on any various types of videos that you like. you should see it after you want to save it.
  • burn your videos on NERO software
Hope you understand my procedures. Good Luck!

Dcr-trv285e driver for vista

The USB streaming driver for theCamcorder is not available from Sony at this point. Hence it is not possible totransfer videos using USB interface. You may use i.LINK or A/V interface totransfer videos from the Camcorder to the Computer which is running on WindowsVista Operating System. Please follow the steps to transfer video to a computerusing an i.LINK connection (IEEE 1394). IMPORTANT: Video capture software and a compatible video capture card mustbe installed on the computer. Depending on the computer manufacturer, variousvideo capture cards and software (Adobe Premiere, Roxio Video Wave, MicrosoftWindows Movie Maker, etc.) may be available or already installed on yourcomputer. If necessary, contact the manufacturer of your computer for furtherinformation. NOTE: Many Sony VAIO computers are bundled with Sony DVgate Motion or DVgatePlus software for video capturing. Some VAIO computers also include Click ToDVD software that will allow video capture to the computer hard drive ordirectly to a DVD.
  1. Connect an i.LINK cable (also known as IEEE 1394) to the i.LINK port on the digital camcorder.

rsshajan_25.jpg
  1. Connect the other end of the i.LINK cable to the computer.
NOTE: The computer i.LINK ports and capture cardsmay have either 4-pin or 6-pin connections. Sony digital camcorders use i.LINKports with 4 pins. If your computer only has a 6-pin i.LINK port, then it willbe necessary to use a 4-pin to 6-pin i.LINK cable.
  1. Turn on the digital camcorder by moving the POWER switch to the VTR position.
  2. Cue the camcorder tape to the beginning of the video footage.
  3. Turn on the computer.
  4. Start the video capture software on the computer.
  5. Begin playing the recorded video in the camcorder.
  6. Begin importing the video with the capture software.
It should now be possible to copy the video usingthe video capture software if the computer hardware and software are configuredcorrectly.

I have a dcr-hc62. Have loaded the software, and am unable to download video to my pc. Software won't recognize the Handycam is the error message. any help? [email protected]

Option 1:

If you want to use the USB cable to connect the Camcorder to the Computer to transfer the video to the Computer then:

(Applicable for Vista Operating System Only.)

This Camcorder does not support USB streaming with the VISTA Operating System. Use an i.LINK cable to transfer the video to the Computer. The i.LINK port is also called IEEE 1394 or Firewire port.(An i.LINK is a black D shaped connector with 4 or 6 pins. The type ofcable to be used will depend on the i.LINK port of your Computer. TheSony Camcorder will have the 4 pin i.LINK cable and if the computer hasthe 6 pin i.LINK port, then you may have to use the 4 pin to 6 pini.LINK Cable).

You can use any video capturing software like Windows Movie Maker to transfer the video from the Camcorder to the Computer.

Refer this Link for the instruction to transfer the video to the Computer using i.LINK cable.

NOTE:As the Camcorder does not support USB streaming with Vista, it is notrequired to use any Sony Device Driver to transfer the video to theComputer. You do not require any Drivers or Software from Sony totransfer the video from the Camcorder to the Computer using thei.LINK/Firewire interface.

Option 2:

(Applicable for Windows XP Operating System only):

Ifyou are using a Windows XP Operating System then you have to installthe USB Streaming Driver in the Computer from the supplied Softwaredisk with the Computer.

Check this Link for the instruction to transfer video to a Computer using USB Streaming.

NOTE: If you do not have the supplied Software disk then I suggest that you use the i.LINK cable to transfer the video.

Model VL-E65OU - how can I burn DVD from the 8MM cassette tape into my computer? Can I purchase a TV cable that will go from TV to computer? Would I need software in my computer to do this? OR can I go...

1. You need a firewire cable to connect camcorder to the computer.
2. Use the CD that came with the camcorder to install drivers.
3. The computer will detect it when you power ON the camcorder.
4. Use Windows Vista MovieMaker (free) to transfer and "edit" video and/or create a DVD disc

Transfering 8mm video tapes to dvds

Hi there. You need to transfer your videos to your computer and then burn them to DVD using a program like Record Now, or Nero. You should be able to get this from Best Buy, or you can get it online from their websites. If you have any other questions, let me know with a comment. Thanks for coming to FixYa.
