Question about Motorola Mobility RAZR V3

7 Answers

Hello, the screen on my razer is dead all of a sudden. The keypad works but both screens show nothing at all on them. The phone appears to work as it rings and I can answer the phone. If the screens got "burned" how can that happen at once for both of them? I read previous solution regarding the moisture dots and they appear white. Please help. Thank you

I woke up to the alarm of my razr v3 this morning, and later in the day when opening the phone up realised that the display had died, although everything else appears to be working fine.. im going to try dismantling it and checking the display connectors as recommended, should be interesting!

Same problem... I'm fairly tech savvy and not the least bit afraid to take this phone apart...

Anybody got suggestions on what I ought to look for while I'm operating???

I had used it 10 minutes beforehand, opened it up again and the screen was dead. I can still receive and dial calls but can't see anything at all on the screen. I've had it for 4 months, never dropped or even banged it..

I had the same problem and bullfrog's solution worked. Thanks! Jim

My razr sat in a little puddle of water for several hours. After letting it dry overnight with the battery and sim card out, I turned it on on the morning. The phone would make calls, the keypad would light up and the sound works. However the screen was completely dead. Bullfrog's solution worked like a dream. The screen is a little discolored, but still visible throughout and completely functional. Just start with your phone on and follow his directions. Thank you!!!!

This worked for me - I had to do it several times because I never figured out whether to start with the phone "off" or "on".

Press # * and the "end call (red)" buttons simultaneously and hold for several sections. Then power phone off and back on. I read this was the equivalent of "safe mode" booting for a RAZR. My phone has performed flawlessly since I did this on the 6th of February!

My Screen went blank and I am sure I need a new phone. I want to retrieve my data though.
Any idea how can I get the data transfer from my phone to my computer or sim.

You need to have the flexcable replaced on the phone, so take it to a mobile service center and have them replaced it.

I have an older model motorola razr that the screen went blank but it is stil working.

Yes this is the most common problem with the RAZR.

There is a small cable connecting the screen to the keypad part of the phone. This cable is called a flex cable and fits through the hinge of your RAZR so that the screen and keypad are connected even as the phone opens and closes on the hinge.

BUT, this cable often wears out or can even be severed even a slight bit, and the phone would then work, but only the bottom half, the screen would be dead. I fix this issue for people more than any other cell problem. You need to have the flex cable replaced.

Blank Screen

Sounds like the charger's defective. Did it get dropped accidentally? Take both the phone and the charger back where you got it. They should fix the problem for you. Battery in the phone is probably dead and just needs charging.

V3 dead but keypad flashing

I had exactly the same problem. After unsucessfully looking for a solution on the net I removed the simm chip and set it aside. The next day, I put it on PC usb charge and left it overnight. The next day, I powered it up and it worked. I turned it off and replaced the simm and it is now working fine. Go figure...
