Purchased, maybe a year ago. Already having problems. Turn TV on.. power light comes on.. sometimes hear sound of TV program, sometimes do not... sometimes see picture for a few seconds, picture blinks, becomes vertically smaller, then TV shuts off.... sometimes do not see picture at all, before TV shuts off. Sometimes, TV will actually work, for several days. Moved TV to every outlet in house... does same thing. I do not have a problem with any of my other TVs (much cheaper brands, and much older). Took TV to "Authorized RCA Tech" he said he could not find anything wrong.. then charged me $100 for plugging it up and watching it for a week. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, HELP ME QUICKLY. Very frustrated and dissappointed. Nicest TV I have ever had... when it actually works. Took every $ I had to purchase and do not foresee the opportunity to get another one.
Many, Many, Thanks!

Based on your post/description, my guess is a loose connection or a cold solder problem (higher probability).
Not unless you want to make another "30 mile trip", you have to find a local tech who is comfortable working with live/hot sets. The usual precaution on working with live/hot units and HV applies. This involves opening the back cover, powering the unit and with a foot long + insulated rod (I use a broken fiberglass fishing rod), poke around the inside of the TV, part/move the wires about, also press on the boards slightly. The idea is locate the loose connection or the cold solder. Soon as located, poweroff and resolder. If there is a component/board failure, the unit would not have operated intermittently. There is a big chance that the loose connection or cold solder just worsened and that cause the recent "chosen not to work".
Further, the power light still turns on and you have not posted any other indications such as a beeping sound or blinking leds/lights which normally indicates failure.
Hope this be of assistance/idea. Post back how things are or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Chirping sound is coming from coil on right side behind FBT, resolder then use Glue gun to glue on top of coil LL037,Make sure high voltage wire from FBT to Trippler is in Good this is what maybe causeing lines and fuzzy picture. Also make sure solder on all pinns of FBT are good.
I have two RCA HD52W59 TV's. I have had one for 3 years and one 4 years. The one I have had for 4 years is giving me the problem. Last week the tv turned off while watching it. It wouldnt come right back on. 10 minutes later we tried and it worked fine. the other night the kids were watching and it turned off and smelled like something burning. I tried turning it right back on and got no power at all. I tried to turn it on two days later and it made a buzzing noise and the green light went out. Never did get a picture, no powering up on the screen. Any ideas? Don't want to spend alot of money. Really loved the TV hope it isnt junk now. Better yet I hope the same thing doesnt happen to the other one I have.

ok does the set show a picture durring this whinning
i have ran into this problems .. sometimes it has to do with a coil that is oscillating...ll037 or ll029...the fix for this is simple if it is the problem. dampen the coil with silicon.
