hi, I opened an attachment from outlook, then modified it. I kept saving but on completion i must have forgotten to save it as a new file and instead just closed the attachment. Can i recover this?
Copy the contents of the "OutlookSecureTempFolder" key and paste it in the Windows Explorer to open the OutlookSecureTempFolder. Your file will most probably be here. This location can not be browsed to and can only be found from the registry as it is different for all users. e.g. for myself it is as follows:
D:\Users\keekus\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.Outlook\R34DKK8O\
Open it from Outlook again. It should be the modified document. This time "save as" something else.

- Do a search for for all files and folders. In the input field put *.doc (or whatever file extension it is). Under advanced options check off "search hidden files and folders" and then hit Search. It will probably be saved as a bunch of jibberish in a temp folder somewhere.
