Re: horizontal lines and screen bounce

You have some leaky filter caps - C2C52 = 10MFD 50 VOLT (off base of Q2C51 on signal board) also check C2P05 = 100 MFD 16 VOLT off pin #3 of IC2P01 and C2P08,C2P03 = 100 MFD 16 VOLT

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit from the link below.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on - TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a solution

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you know what you are doing. If you have never done this before we would advise calling a shop or if you want to do it yourself get a complete kit with instructions and support from

Horizontal Lines scrolling on screen

I had a similar issue with my Mitsubishi HD 1080. My power supply went out, I had it replaced and it works like new. However, just today I had AT&T U-Verse installed. When the cable guy was showing me the new HD channels all seemed good. This evening (about 5 hours after being installed) I started seeing these horizontal lines across my screen. The picture was still HD quality, but those annoying lines just wouldn't go away. Anyway, after reading a few blogs on-line suggesting interference or bad grounding, it hit me!!! The AT&T guy who installed my U-Verse (cable, internet and phone) had set the modem on top of my TV!!! It was just starring at me this whole time. So I removed the modem off the top of my TV and put it on a side table just to see what would happen and sure enough the lines were gone!!! You may not have the exact same problem, but it may be some type of interference (cell phone, modem, etc, either on top or around your TV that is causing the issue... Hope this helps. Thanks.

Horizontal lines and screen bounce

These sets have capacitors that will go bad, but without a good ERS meater that tests these in curcuit you could be spending a lot of time doing nothing, But the most common is to find the 9 volt reg on the signal board and change all within a 2 inches of that regulator

Black horizontal lines appear after tv is on for 30 minutes

I had the same problem with our VS-55705 Mitsubishi. It seemed to me that this was a problem of heat.

I unplugged the TV and then took the cover off of the back of the it. I then used canned air to blow off the collection of dust from the components. Then I vacuumed as close to everything as I could without touching any of the components. I then used glass cleaner to clean up the surface of the three bulbs.

I plugged in the TV and it has worked perfect ever since. I haven't put the rear cover back on it yet. That could have been all that I needed to do to fix it. I'm too busy enjoying a nice picture to try putting it back on. Cleaning the bulbs really helped the quality of the picture.

Good Luck!

I had this problem around the time my TV was 3 years old. I ended up having to get it repaired at a TV repair place, it cost me $375.
