Re: Printer does not connest to pc

I think "Cartridge short" is refering to a short circuit to the ink cartridges, remove them and clean the contacts, and try again, if this persists try replacing the cartridges

Printer stops printing while data still in buffer

I would suggest the porblem may be associated with Bi-Directional Communication.

Bi-Directional Communication can be turned off on the 6312 in the following way;

o Set the printer to Offline.

o Press the Enter and LF keys together for approx 3 - 4 seconds. The alarm will sound. (Tech Access On)

o Press the Mode key: display will show Offline Normal.

o Press any Arrow key until display shows Offline Config.

o Press the Forms/1 key.

o Press any Arrow key until display shows Config Paralel.

o Press the CPI/2 key.

o Press any Arrow key until display shows Paralel Bi-Dir.

o Press the LPI/3 key.

o Press any Arrow key until display shows Bi-Dir Off.

o Press the Enter key and the interface will be set.

o Press the Clear key.

o Press the Enter and LF keys together for approx 3 - 4 seconds. The alarm will sound. (Tech Access Off)

This would need to be saves to your configuration so this setting is not lost when you power the printer OFF, of if the printer is reset.

You should also be able to access a Web Page on the Axis Print Server and will be able to change paralle interface settings set this to Uni Directional or disable Bi-Directional Communication

Message reads "cartridge short press power key"

The error indicates that one or both of the cartridges has a short circuit. Please follow the steps below to identify and fix the problem:

1. Make sure the printer is on.

2. Open the printer cover. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.

Note: If the carrier does not automatically move to the center, turn off the printer/unplug the printer from the power source and then slide the carrier to the center.

3. Remove both cartridges from the carrier.

4. Close the printer cover.

5. Rebrick (pull out power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds).

6. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first.

7. Close the printer cover and check for any errors.

8. If no error appears, reinsert the other cartridge. Close the printer cover.

9. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear with a new cartridge.
If problem continues, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.

Most problem experienced with hp photosmart c6180 is the yellow catridge error. Try cleaning the contact surface of the catridge and the printer using moistened cotton buds..if error continues, you should clear the error that keeps on displaying.. here's how: press & hold "*" key...while holding, press "#" key and then release both keys..."Enter Special Key Combo" will be "1", "2" and "3" to display "Support" ">" right arrow button and release when "System Config Menu" "OK" and/or arrow key to display "Hardware Failure Status" "OK"....when "Hardware Failure Status:Clear" appeared, press "OK" to "OK" again to display "Hardware Failure Status Cleared. Press Cancel To Continue" "CANCEL" as many times to display "Welcome To Photosmart Express" or "Ink System Failure".....the last part is to turn off the printer and unplug at the back...wait for 30 sec, then plug and turn on the printer...if asked, press "OK" to continue and allow the "One Time Ink Initialization" to procede..After this try to print...

I installed new color and black ink cartridges and keep getting: color cartridge short. Press power key. Hence, the printer will not work.

It could be a "short-circuit" type of electronic problem inside the colour cartridge.
Turn the printer off.
Remove the colour cartridge.
Purchase a new colour cartridge.
Insert it.
Turn the printer on.
If you still get the error, take the printer to a qualified technician.
