Background color is orange instead of blue, color is messed up

When DVD player is turned on, you have a regular blue background. My problem is when a dvd is inserted into the dvd player, instead of the normal blue color, the background is orange and hence colors are weird when dvd is played. What do I do?

I have the same problem - only with HDMI output (AV output - red/white/yellow cables) is fine.

I bought the unit about 1 month ago...was working fine for about 4 weeks

Mine worked for about 3 months until it went orange. I'm usually a big fan of Philips products so this kind of surprised me. Any tips on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Same for me. This is my second 5990, the first lasted about a week, this one lasted two days and two movies. Apparently it's a problem inside the hdmi port. Taking it back to walmart once again...

Usually this problem is a simple one to find out.Are you wires working correctly. If they are not, open up the box and,if you are a professional so I dont get sued for some accident, try to splice the wires back.If your not a pro take it to the retailer and have it fixed. If it is not the wires,I would check your color settings option in the DVD options menu.Check your red blue green balance and make sure they are correct.

Basic "background" colors are wrong:

Kathy...have you tried connecting another monitor to the same video card and computer? It could be...

1. Video card defective
2. VGA cable from computer to monitor defective...look for bent pins in plug.

The VGA cable from the computer video output carries three distinct colors...red, green and blue. Likewise one of these colors may not arrive at the monitor correctly or at all. The results being that all colors are incorrect.

the light filter on the blue lcd is fried due to excessive dust and heat. clean it out with canned air and replace the filter. unfortunately, you might have to replace the entire optical engine because benq doesn't sell individual parts for it.

How to get blue background in color tv?

This could be a defect in the degausing circuit, but to confirm, please supply the make and model and a mre detailed description of the colors on the screen. You can try unplugging the set for 10 minutes and then turn on the set. That may reset the circuit enough to confirm the problem. Please update this with the results of that experiment and we'll continue from there.

Thanks,
Dan

How do I reset the ink levels?

Well, theres the problem. Most printers can remember up to three cartridges. That includes color & black. The best way to put it is that each cartridge has a"funger print" that the printer can read, and estimated ink levels can be gaged. There is a way to "reset" the cartridges, but i do not have the document on me. Please email [email protected] and I'll send it today. I'm not saying it will work 100%, as the reset method is geared for the 56/57/58, but who knows right?
