Have never used the scanner Cannot get it to work!!!!

We Have had this product for a long time .Three Years! But have never
Used the scanner!! Now we need to but cannot!!
What AREN't We doing correctly!!!! HELP!
We absolutly Love the FAX COPY PRINT Features.
