My Nikkon DX 18-55 Nikkor doest focus subject

Its because just this morning i always got blurred shots, the cam didn't focus into the subject, then i tried different settings. Auto and Manual focus, I accidentally rotated that smaller lense, then there it is. Will it have a further damaged into my cam? Please reply!! Is this normal? I just experienced it now.

Hello, first off, please do read through the manual that came with the camera, and at first have it close by as you go through the basic's of turning on the camera to all the way to the medium-to-advanced level guidance from the manufacturer.what you do need to do is,simply leave any control's(buttons/switches etc)well alone, until you are quite conversant with their purpose.it may well sound obvious to the casual browser who happens to read through my notes, but they are important.with the focusing ring,it may well be ok,and not suffered any undue damage.when you have gained a little expertise with the various controls, aim your camera at a distant object, and focus there with the auto focus feature, keeping your finger on the button, have a look at the barrel,to see what distance scale it has rotated to,and see if it is approximately correct,or simply measure from that point with a builders tape measure.hope that helps, cheers.

Is the switch on the side of the lens set to manual or auto? Sometimes it's the little things like this that we don't notice.

Seems as if you're snapping the shutter before the lens has focused. Have you tried manual focus or single-server auto focus?

SOURCE: Nikon D50 with Nikon DX 18-55 lens will not focus

Hi,
Sorry to hear about your lens. If you are able to autofocus and take pictures with any other lens, then it means that your problem lies with the kit lens. If you can take picture in manual mode, but not in autofocus mode, then the AF motor in the lens in not functioning. I had the same thing happen to my 50mm 1.4 lens.

Depending on your location, there are Nikon repair centers in Melville, NY and Torrance, CA.
Hope this helps,
Andrew

SOURCE: My Nikkor AF-S DX VR 18-200 stopped focusing

the lens internally has a electrical circuit ribbon that contracts when you adjust the lens everytime. They are prone to get crease causing a short in the auto mode.b It can be checked and replaced bt most camera technicians

The auto focus on my Sony Cybershot DSC-W35 is working i guess because the most shots that i take come out blurred... Can anyone help me with a quick solution because i need my cam urgently!!

THE TROUBLE WITH AUTO FOCUS ... is that it doesn't work well under the following conditions:
  • When the subject is not in the centre of the picture (particularly when there are moving objects in the background)
  • In low light conditions
  • If there is a bright light behind the subject (e.g. a window)
  • When the subject is bright (e.g. a car with its head lamps on)
  • When the subject is of low contrast - walls, the sky
  • If the subject is made up of fine repetitive patterns
  • If the subject is behind vertical bars or a chain link fence
  • When another subject passes between the camera and the point of interest

I shot close to the things that often have blur problem, so I think is the focus problem, i dunno how to adjust, it always have some part which is blur.

The closer you are to the subject, the less will be in focus. This can be a good thing as it can be used to separate the subject from the background. Also, when you get super close, you may need to set the camera in "macro" mode.

My nikor lence is not focusing . its made crazy just serch for focusing but it cant so what can i do for it ?

The 18-70 is a rather slow lens and needs quite a bit of light before it will focus. Also, the lens needs contrasting between subject and background. For instance, if you try to take a picture of just the blue sky with nothing else in the frame, it will probably not focus at all. Put a plane in there as the subject and you should get the shot.

See if you experience a better focus outside during the day with some good contrast between subject and background. If it works better, then it's just the limitation of the lens. If it's still not focusing, there might be a problem with the lens. You do have the lens on M/A (auto focus) right?

Slight blur shooting variety of subjects

It is just a possibility but you may have overrode the auto focus. If you accidentally move the focussing ring it disables the auto focus.
