Please Call Service means the machine "thinks" it has detected a fault.
To check do the following..
Press PROGRAM,*, 6
Then press PROGRAM to select Service Call mode, then press ENTER....the error message will be displayed in the display.
Most common error given machine age was "Heater Error".
If this is the case you will need a Serviceman to do repairs to the Fuser Unit.
F-320 "Please call Service".....Press PROGRAM,*,6.....Press PROGRAM to select "Service Call"....error message will now be displayed.
Most common is #02 (Heater Error) which means you have a defective fuser.
Press PROGRAM to show any other error messages.
Press "STOP" TO EXIT.
Press ..Program, *, 6 ....Press Program to select "Service Call" then press ENTER...the error message will be displayed.
Most common prob was "Heater error" which means a defective fuser unit.
Open the lid of the ADF and check the **** of glass that runs from back to front on top of the machine, most likely corrector fluid or some kind of foreign matter on the glass.
By now this may be a mute point given the time differential ....however;.
if the machine is saying"please call service" do the following..
Press Prog,*,6 ..then press the right arrow key until "service call" appears in the lcd then press ENTER.
aAt this time the display will show the error...favorite was "heater error"
Press STOP to exit.
**If heater error is displayed,you will need a service man to replace the fusing unit in the machine.
Ok, this is how I resolved it for my fax machine.
I powered down the fax, removed the new drum and reseated it.
When I powered it back on the counter reset itself as it is supposed to.
