I have a Dell Dimension 4600. When I burn an AVI file and play it back, there is some missing audio and jumping video that occurs. I have burned DVD videos with no problems. What could be wrong here? Thank...

1st convert AVI files to MPEG2, use a good converter....
use WINAVI 9...
use a codec called FFDSHOW....
use Nero (Nero Vision) to burn will take some burn...
i bet your will never fail .

add the AVI file in Nero(Vision...make movie option/ Export option / Configure option...) and let it convert to MPEG2 first....
then use the Make DVD option in Nero Vision and then make your menu etc and Burn

Blank DVDs turn my DVD Burner into a CD Drive

Not knowing what OS you're running or what version of Nero you have, I'll make a few assumptions. If you're running Vista with Nero 7, Nero doesn't always "play nice" with Vista. It's a memory hog (all video editing programs are) but it tends to hang up a lot and for some reason, runs worse in Vista than in XP. (just my observation)

I've had to re-install Nero twice due to similar problems. (lack of drive recognition, burns ab-ending etc) . You've probably already uninstalled/reinstalled the burner so I would uninstall Nero and reinstall it. Best of luck and please post back with any questions.

Dvd writer does not burn on raw file system cds

What OS are you using? I doubt it is the burner. I have the same model burner and it burns everything I try to burn just fine. It works on both my XP SP2 installation and the OS X86 Leopard 10.5.5 installation. I have burned video, data and bootable OS DVDs and CDs in both operating systems.

It may just be Nero. You could try Alcohol 120% or Ultra ISO.

Dvd burning problems with the dvd writer

You may try other dvd burning software such as avs video tools, I always use it to convert and burn DVD, it works pretty well for me, and here is a guide about how to use it
Hope it helps. Contact me if you have any other question.

Burning problem

When you open Nero select copy dvd. Select the dvd-rom as the read drive. Put the dvd to be copied in there. Select the dvd-rw as the write drive and place a blank dvd r or dvd rw in it the select copy.

I have the same issue with the LG GSA-H20L and the LG GSA-42N, but mine was with TDK DVDs.

I contacted LG Support and they told me that TDK disks are not recommended for use with their DVD Burners.

I asked them if there were any others they did not reccomend and they said no.

Going through my cupboard, I found Memorex Printable DVD-Rs that will burn OK.

I also tried Sony DVD+R and a generic brand, but they will not burn either.

I also found that these LG drives do not recognise Laser CD-R.

In short, for burning, try either Memorex, LG and some others, but don't try TDK, Sony or Laser.

Good Luck
