On my Akai turntable, I have to remove the fiberboard bottom cover (nine screws, nothing tricky) then there's a central brass air bearing with a small set-screw in the side. Loosen the screw, and the central turntable axle lifts right out of the bearing.

This is a belt-drive Akai - your mileage may vary.

  • Loop replacement band around the pulley cylinder in the motor. Replace platter and bottom plate. Tighten spindle screw. Test the new belt by turning the platter clockwise two or three rotations. Belt should fit snugly and turn with little resistance.

How do I remove the platter on my record player? When I lift up on the platter something in the middle is stopping it from going any father.

Hi, remove the disc in the centre of the platter. Under there you will find a cir clip that holds the platter in place. It may need a light tap on the spindle with a rubber hammer of piece of wood. [email protected]

On my record player, the platter is wobbling as it spins and is off balance. what can be done to fix this

Remove the felt on the platter and lift the turning platter of the centre guide pin. Please note where the belt is running, because you will have to place that into the same possition as before. Check for any dirt or debries. Clean out and replace table and belt. Hope this helps

Aiwa AP-2600 Direct Drive Turntable - platter not rotating

if the platter is removable by you and easily, might need just a little cleaning and lube at the center . the platter is the top rotating plate that you were pushing to get started.simply pulls out around a center key. check with local service shops how much they would charge for this kind of cleaning and lubing. $25.00 might be a good price to allow a decision, whether to buy a new.

Motor turns feebly, not enough to make the platter

Sounds like the motor is bad if you say it turns feebly. See if you can turn the drive shaft with your fingers easily. If you find it hard, it's possible that something might have worn out. You could try oil in that case.
