Re: not working

Does it work with the dock then? Are there any lights when you plug it in w/o the dock? If when you press the power button anything flashes count the flashes and their frequency. (fast or slow) The only hope you have is to hold down the power button for 10 seconds while battery and power are connected. Then remove power and battery, hold for 10 secs again, but while holding slide in a battery. You should see no lights this time. At that point remove the battery and insert the wall power. Press the power button briefly. (as if you want to turn it on.) It will either turn on or flash the led with the batt light. If it flashes the led, insert the battery. The unit should turn on. This is how a rom power on is performed. If you don't have the latest firmware you may not have this feature. This is all documented on HP's site but they assume everything is actually working. If this gets you nowhere then you have a bad voltage regulartor which on an armada is NOT a separate module and will require a new MLB. (PART#204268-001) Keep in mind I haven't worked at HP since 03 so my parts database software is old. That part# may have been changed because I got the software BEFORE HP bought Compaq. You can call the Compaq parts source (800-652-6672) the direct backdoor is 770-343-5903 (0000 is main desk) or was when I worked there. This is a GREAT site for buying parts for your notebook. and directly to the MLB: $59.00 is all it costs. Hope this helps.

Re: not working

Did your problems begin after the docking station was burned out, or did it work for a while afterward? It certainly sounds like your motherboard's power array is damaged. Please write back with more specifics about when the problem began.

How can i update dell dock?

A docking station is an extension or addition of ports for a laptop computer. Once the portable computer is docked, you can access the docking station's ports, such as PS/2 or USB 2.0 ports, through your computer. Some docking stations have monitors that you can connect your computer to, placing your video on an external screen so you can turn off your computer's monitor and conserve some of your computer's energy. All Dell docking stations will have the same general troubleshooting steps.

Plug your laptop's power adapter into the docking station and dock your laptop onto/into the docking station. If there is no power going to your laptop from the docking station but it works when the power adapter is plugged into the wall, the docking station is bad and needs to be replaced. Plug your power adapter into the docking station and dock your laptop onto/into the docking station. If power goes on but your computer doesn't recognizes accessories such as a USB mouse--plugged into the docking station, try a different port on the station. If it works in a different port, the previous USB port is burned out. Plug your power adapter into the docking station and dock your laptop onto/into the docking station. If power is going through the docking station but no accessories are being recognized, you might have a corrupted docking profile. Undock the computer and dock it again once it has fully started up to reset the docking profile. Plug your power adapter into the docking station and dock your laptop onto/into the docking station. If you have an external monitor and it is not working, completely close the lid on the laptop so the image will move to the external monitor. Plug your power adapter into the docking station and dock your laptop onto/into the docking station. If power is going through the docking station but no accessories are being recognized and resetting the docking profile fails, update all drivers through Dell's support website and then re-dock the computer. Some of the software that runs the hardware may have become corrupted. Hope this helps

My pin in the laptop which the charger head goes in has broken and now i want a battery docking station for it as i cant pay for repair so could you tell me if you could find one

This problem can be fixed for less than the cost of a docking station, that is if you can even find a docking station, the cost of the part is $10 on ebay, and all you have to do is find someone that can remove the old dc power jack and solder the new one in place, most mom and pop computer places will do it for about $40-75.

Hi there
this is just a wild guess but i think that is you ac conector that is fry there is not fuses for that so the only option is to take it to a local repair guy an get it replace. depending where you are may run from $50 to $150 the repair since they have to take apart the laptop to change it the part is no more than $ 15 but labor is the costly here so maybe the docking station will be the best in your case .

Dell D610 only can run on battery, not accepting AC power or from my docking station. I check the PA-12 AC charger and is working fine with other D610. Please help.

If not powering from DOCK, AC adapter and only from battery, since the Battery, DOck and adapter are known good, it is a matter of a motherboard replacement

I have a 2nd hand companq armada M300 notebook with docking station. It came with power lead which appears to fit both docking station and laptop - the machine powers up fine if I plug the power lead...

There is a manual for your armada, the battery is inside the hinge, and you put the charger in the hinge..not sure if it on left or right side of it
If the battery is healthy then it will be full charged in a couple of hours from emty to full, if the battery ise´nt that healthy, it can take 10-12 hours of more

Good luck to you

If the docking station is not charging the laptop while docked, it may simply need to be plugged in using the power cord to recharge the battery.
