These instructions assume Windows XP. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Insert the adapter.

Navigate to Control Panel (classic view) > Administrative Tools > Computer Management

In the Computer Management window, select "Device Manager" in the left-hand menu.

Click the + sign in the "Network Adapters" field.

If the adapter shows underneath "network adapters", follow the instructions below to completely remove it's drivers.

It's a little involved...:

1.)Go to the device in the device manager>Right-click>Properties.....

2.)Click "Driver Details" and make note of all the files listed. Once the device is gone, you need to delete those files......

Secondly, you need to find the .inf responsible for it's installation.....

3.)Go to the Details Tab, and highlight the long string....Theres a drop down at the top, it should be on "Device Instance ID" (XP, might be a tad off on the verbage)

4.)Press control+C to copy it....

Looks something like the following....

USB\VID_03F0&PID_4F11&REV_0100&MI_00

5.)Navigate to C:\WINDOWS\inf in Windows Explorer (My Computer)

6.)Press F3 and copy that string to the "A word or phrase...". Make sure, under "More Advanced Options", "Search system folders", Search hidden...", and "Search subfolders" are all checked.

7.)Perform the search. If nothing is found, take off a chunk at the end, 1 at a time, going up to the &...

1st... USB\VID_03F0&PID_4F11&REV_0100&MI_00
2nd... USB\VID_03F0&PID_4F11&REV_0100
3rd... USB\VID_03F0&PID_4F11

...etc, uintil you get a hit, with a "Driverfilename.INF". Rename that .inf file to .OLD.

7.)Now go back to the earlier part where you found all the listed drivers in the Driver Details tab, and rename them all to .something, or remove them to a safe directory outside the systemroot.....

8.)Reinstall your Drivers for the device, and plug it back in and you should have new drivers...

The installation failed and now I'm demanded to uninstall before trying again. This is simply not possible by normal methods. There remains stuff in the registry which I can't remove manually or with...

I would go into the device manager and remove the device from there - if its shown. Press the Windows key (bottom left of the keyboard} and at the same time press the R key, now in the search box that appears - type devmgmt.msc and see if you have a wireless adapter showing at all. any ? X or ! look under network adapters - click on the + and see if you have the adapter listed - check if it has any X or ! or ?
you can download the driver from this website http://www.usr.com/support/product-template.asp?prod=5421 and reinstall the driver that way
If you want to go back to before you installed the device - try a system restore start>programs>accessories>system tools>system recovery - choose a date to before the problem , that should clear the program and the registry

Cannot reinstall the linksys wireless-g notebook adapter srx400

Usually a new driver will replace the old driver but it may have been corrupted, depending on how you uninstalled it. Did you uninstalled it from the device manager ? For linksys driver issues check out this link: http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support

The Realtek EAPPkt Protocol Service failed to start

Try this..1.Try to uninstall the USB adapter and re install it again. To do this go to Add/Remove Programs under Control Panel and find the usb adapter your install in this case its Alfa Wireless USB Adapter and uninstall it and restart your computer after uninstallation. 2. Remove the USB adapter while restarting and insert it again until windows already loaded and all windows startup program have all been started.
3. System will look for the system driver of USB adapter and it will prompt you for the driver location in this window do not choose the recomended instead click browse and locate the driver cd and look for driver folder and select the applicable driver for your operating system such as WinXP if your using XP.
4. If there is no driver folder in cd, go to my computer, explore cd and run setup or install this will install the pending driver installation.
