When you say it is frosted over, do you mean the interior of the freezer is frosted, or the evaporator coils?

A couple things to check for:

1. Is the door gasket making a good seal when you close the door? A good quick fix for a bad seal on the gasket is to rub a thin layer of Vaseline (the original jelly kind works best) on the rubber to help it stick and to fill any scratches that might be keeping it from sealing tightly.

2. Is the fan running on the inside of the freezer? The evaporator coil in the freezer needs a fan to blow air over the coils to keep them from freezing over. They don't run continuously, and on some units will turn off when the door is open, so try holding the door switch shut when you check.

3. Is the defrost cycle working? Frost-free freezers have a defrost cycle in which a small heater turns on to thaw any frost that has begun to form. To check the functionality of the heater and the defrost timer will probably require a visit from a technician... It would take a while to explain it here, but if check the first two and come up empty handed, post back. You will need a volt/ohm meter.

I would check the first two

Frezzer is only 2 yrs old and already has defrosted on its own what seems to cause that?

This machine has an automatic defrost cycle that comes on automatically 4 times a day. During defrost the compressor goes off and the heaters inside come on and melt the frost from the coils. In about 20 minutes heat shuts off and compressor comes back on and freezes againl

Freezer gets frosted up 1 day after defrosting completley. New seal already installed model#116

If its frosting up 1 day after defrosting, first, you probably didnt have the doors open while you defrosted, and secondly, the seal was likely not the problem in the first place. You probably have a defrost problem, either with the defrost control, the bi-metal t stat or the heater have malfunctioned. This type of refrigerator repair can be checked best by testing continuity through the heater, and the t stat when cold. If both of those show no defects, change the defrost control.

Both lights are on on the outside of my freezer. Things are unthawing. I can't find my owners manual.

Hi,
The one light should be for power the other for alarm meaning the temperature has risen, which you already know.

In order to help you better I need to ask some questions about the freezer.

First off, is this an automatic defrost unit or manual defrost?
Does it have a fan inside the freezer? If so is it running
Do you see a frost build up on the back wall of the freezer closer to the bottom?
Do you hear the compressor running (the black pump behind the freezer on the bottom)? It will have a slight hum when running.
Is there frost build up anywhere else like the walls inside?

Freezer builds up frost and ice too quickly.

Either the door gasket is not sealing well or the unit is low in refrigerant.

1999 Frigidaire Refrigerator

Check rear wall of freezer by feel for frost. Heavy, even frost indicates likely problem in the defrost system. Unplug unit. Defrost heater (in freezer behind rear wall panel), defrost thermostat (same area-must be checked at freezer temperature) or Defrost timer-located lower back outside of unit. Near compressor. Do continuity test on heater and defrost thermostat and if they show continuity (good), replace defrost timer. If not, replace the one that tests bad.

Defrost coils fully. Reassemble.

Please let me know if I have helped with comments and rating.

Refrigerator will work about 7-10 days after being defrosted until thick frost builds up again cutting off air flow to both compartments

Freezer has frost in back- frig not coolling

You have a defrost parts issue.
Unplug the fridge. Remove the back freezer panel and check the defrost heater and defrost thermostat.
Without a model number I can not tell you where the defrost timer is.

Freezer frosting up

I need more information. If this is a frost free freezer with an internal fan I need to know what the freezer temp is. If a manuel defrost it is supposed to frost up. You defrost it 2 - 3 times a year when the frost builds up over 3/4 inch. If it frosts up faster than this check to see if the door is sealing all the way around. There should be no gaps or cracks in the gasket.

Frost in the freezer

IS IT ICE OR FROST? IF IT IS ICE, THE DOOR MAY HAVE BEEN LEFT CRACKED OPEN.
IF IT IS FROST, IS THIS A FROST FREE FREEZER?
IF YES, IS THE FROST ON THE BACK WALL?
IF YES, THERE IS A DEFROST FAILURE AND YOU WILL NEED TO TROUBLESHOOT THE DEFROST CIRCUIT.
IF THE FROST IS ON THE FOOD OR AROUND THE DOOR OPENING, A SEAL LEAK HAS ALLOWED WARM MOIST AIR INTO THE FREEZER AND CREATED THE FROST. CHECK THE DOOR SEAL FOR A GAP WHEN CLOSED.
