Question about SanDisk Sansa e260 MP3 Player

Sansa e260 only wheel light will turn on, screen remains black

My sansa e260 won't turn on. The screen is black, but the light on the wheel will turn on, and off. That is it. I reformatted and deleted everything using a macbook. and now my macbook doesn't recognize it anymore. I tried connecting it to my other windows laptop, and it recognizes it only has a usb connection, I downloaded the mtb software, but it just keeps popping up as new hardware infinitely as the e260 is plugged in. I can't load the firmware onto it since the laptop doesn't recognize it as anything else besides a usb connection. How can I download the software onto it again?

My sansa e260's navigation wheel lights up but the screen is blank. what do I do . It may be the battery is completely dead. Bob L.

Your battery is not dead because if it was, then navigation wheel would not be lighting up. Your screen is blank because when you touch the navigation wheel, you probably decrease the brightness of the screen. Turn the wheel counterclockwise, as this will brighten up the screen display. Press the center button when done. Reply back if this solution does not help.

My mp3 player's screen doesn't work

You may need to now reset the player, that may have been a bit much for it. To reset your Sansa Mp3 player. Slide and hold the Power switch up for approximately 20 seconds. Release the Power switch. To turn the player on, slide the Power switch up then release instantly. If that does not get your player working again, try and Format to clear any corrupt files that may be present.

WON'T TURN ON

I just got an e260 today and had the same problem. When I originally turned it on the Hold was in the 'locked' position. From there on out the screen has been black. When it was plugged in nothing happened either. The Solution? Hold the power button for about 20 or so seconds. The manual doesn't tell you about it, but that's how you completely shut the sansa down altogether. Yes, the manual says it's also a reset button but it isn't mentioned how you actually use it. Once you hold that button down long enough it should completely shut down and restart.
