Dell w3201c frozen screen

Tv turns on and says dell and it stops there. How can i fix it?

  • robindawn Apr 21, 2009

for a while now, I would turn on the tv, and the dell logo would come up and sometimes it wouldn't turn on all the way, would have to turn it off and turn it back on. I turned it on today and it wouldn't turn all the way on. Then got to where it wouldn't even bring up the dell logo. THERE IS A YELLOW FLASHING LIGHT where the power button is that normally has a green light when turned on..
Thanks for any and all help...

You could try a power drain:  Unplug the TV's power cable so that the TV is not grounded to the house.  Then press and hold in the TV's own power button in for one minute to drain the capacitors.  Plug the TV back in and see if it made a difference.  If not, it would appear that the software in your TV's mainboard is corrupt and would need to be serviced.

After powering on the TV, a "Dell" message pops up

The set is stuck in "Power On Self Test", aka POST.

Try unplugging the set from the wall for 15 minutes (to allow any stored internal power to bleed down), plug it in and try it again.

W3201c lcd cracked screen

Usually these tv's are built by another company and then rebranded in this case by Dell. So you would have to find out who made this and who else used the screen. That will give you the options as far as a replacement screen. If you can't track down any other possible suppliers you are stuck going to Dell.

I can't see a replacement screen being cheaper than a new tv. Replacement parts are usually worth about 3x what they are as used in a tv. So if your tv cost $500 then if you were to order the replacement parts you are lookng at $1500 to build your tv. Thats pretty valid for almost any electronics. So I would give Dell a call and get a price but I would also have a good look at the papers for a sale on a replacement.

This TV does not go down to a 480 resolution! If I know that, I would of never bought this TV. I cant use my VHS, PS2, Nintendo (Original). So now I'm trying to save money to get a 120Hz HDTV :P

Screen Blackout

Don't bother with DELL if out of warranty, they can't fix it. Have the same model and same problem
probably It is a bad inverter board, in my case one of the 16 transformers is burnt out on the inverter board. still trying to find a replacement component. if not replacing the board is the only option or getting the inverter board repaired.

by the way, this TV has a Samsung panel: model LTA320W2-L03. so it needs parts for a Samsong not a DELL.
DELL does not manufacture or fix them becuase they don't make them
