Hi guys i recently encountered a problem with my dell vostro 1310 first for some reason internet stops working meaning i cant open webpages even though my wireless status says im connected the weird thing is that programs like spotify that use internet still works so i dont know what it is second problem is with the tab, windows key they just stopped working ive tried to do a clean install and nothing changed finally the things ive tried to solve the problems include fresh install and i ran the dell diagnostics which told me all the hardware passed is this a software issue plzzzz help
Easy way.... go to internet options and restore it all to default, and set security to med. apply and test.
harder way... update ALL LAN and network/internet related drivers, then disable them. then re-enable them, then restart computer.
if none of these works you do have a hardware issue cuz thats covers all the soft ware issues possible except maybe a virus, but u did a clean install so.... probly not you can get to the drivers from computer management

So u can connect to the router, but you arent allowet to access the internet?
The router gave your dell a new ip-number, but it dident gave you access to the net. You ned to do the settings in your router manual, let the router give your dell full access.
Good luck

reset the modem and the wireless router by powering them off for 30-60 seconds, then plug power back in. Wait a minute or so for the devices to reset then go to the PC and try to connect again
Good luck

Click on Start and type CMD. Open CMD and type ipconfig. Check out the IP address V4 for the Local area ethernet adapter or wireless area adpater depending on wireless or wired connection. Any ip address other than of the class 169.254.x.x shoud be considered good. If you have an IP address is any other number other than the above you have a good IP address. to test the internet connectivity type PING www.google.com. If the results are Packets sent 4 Recieved 4 Lost 0 then the issue could be due to Internet Explorer bing corrupt or a firewall blocking the internet access. Power off the computer. Power on the system and as soon as you see the Dell logo please tap the F8 button 3 - 4 times. You'll get to teh Advanced Windows boot option screen. Select safe mode with networking and see if the internet works in the safe mode. If yes then it could be the firewall. Uninstall you antivirus and check.

I had similar problem with Medion WIN 2140. The harddrive crashed, I bought a new drive and had to reinstall Windows from scratch since I had neither a backup or burned the reinstallation CD's. First I installed Windows7 and every driver/application/BIOS available from Medion's download site. At first my WIFI worked OK but somtime during the process og BIOS/driverupdate my WIFI antenna turned off. The antenna can be turned on/off with a easy access button (touchpad to the right of powerbutton) but WIFI button dows not work.
Medion's danish supporters told me that Windows7 is unsupported. So I had to reinstall using Vista. Still not able to turn on WIFI. I'm pretty sure that BIOS prior to version 1.0K (dated 06.01.2010) had a "ON" possibility but is now limited to "OFF" og "LAST STATE".
Medion support wouldn't og couldn't provide me a previous version of the BIOS. In fact Medion DK's support doesn't seem to know anything about their products.
However I have found the solution myself. Launch Manager application is needed for Easy Access buttons to work. Current version 1.5.0.5 of the application is faulty. In registry i found that pressed keys call the file fn.exe, this file is not a part of the OS, Launch Manager or any other Medion driver/application.
I googled for and found the prevoius version 1.4.9 of Launch Manager. This version works without any problems on both Vista and Windows7.

I wrote to Medion support to replace the faulty application on their support site. But with my current Medion experience i daught they will do anything about it. So instead I post this reply to help others.

If the system works fine in safe mode then generally it would indicate that one of the startup programs or service is causing the system to lock up. the best way to test this would be to disable the startup by booting to safe mode then typing the command MSCONFIG inside the run box. you can disable all of the items underneath the startup tab. under the services tab you will need to put a check on hide all microsoft services then unchecking the unnecessary services. then restarting in normal mode to test if the computer will still lock up.
