No power, No Display - test voltages on secondary side of transformer were pulsating
Check diodes 6230, 6240, 6210. They are BYW98 Rectifiers, in my case it was s/c. Thanks to Sparky for similar tip - Philips CD Model: CDR770/00
No power and no output
Replace C6 with 4.7uF, 250v
No power, voltages on secondary side of chopper were very low and pulsating
Check diode 6230. It's a BYW98, in my case it was s/c. Note: it's the rectifier for the 14v line
Dead, no power up on pin 2 of ic601
Replace x601 on main processor ic601
(Brko) Toshiba DVD Model: SD-1750 / SD-2800
No sound
Replaced C927 / C928

Display light for totals on cyclone pin ball machine don't display

Assuming the game is playing, but just no displays lit.

1. Check fuses on power supply board for a blown fuse. Sometimes the fuse clips will crack and not provide a snug hold to the fuse.

2. Look for bad (cracked) solder joints on the connector pins on power supply board.

3. There are two 39K resistors on the power supply board that go bad (usually go open circuit). One of those resistors is for the +100 volts and the other one is for the -100 volts. All it takes is one of those resistors to go bad and the displays will be blank. Originals were rated at a half watt, but it is suggested to replace with a higher wattage value, say 39k at 2 watts. If you find only one bad 39k resistor, replace the other one too at the same time because that one will soon fail.

Hi Skipping problem with a NAD C545BEE, plays OK for 1 minute, then skips randomly wthin the track, then will skip to different tracks on the CD, like fast forwarding. No problems with the disc themselves

There is a diode in the power supply which gives dc supply to the laser focusing coil driver ic . if the diode get faulty this problem can occur. Just replace all the rectifier diodes in the power supply stage. Its better than searching for the exact one. then check the cd player is it skips the tracks. if then also its skips the tracks then you have to change the laser pickup unit.

No power to unit stand by light does not come on. cr2405a-pa

Check to make sure the fuse has not blown inside the plug and whilst its unplugged open up the CD player and see if the Fuse inside has burnt out, that being the case put another one into it of the correct rating as it should say it on the silver ends of the glass tube. If it blows again you got a problem with another component called a Diode or Bridge Rectifier which has become faulty or a faulty mains voltage capacitor ( Big Blue can ) on the power supply.

No power.

sounds like your blew the first power stage, probally a fried power diode. is there a fuse you can replace? if not it will most probally need componet level troubleshooting/repair.

good luck!

Hi 2002tii

These are a cool old machine. They use the cdm1 laser mechanism that was revered in its day for high performance. If you have voltage available after the rectifier stages, check the 3 pin voltage regulators. Marked as 78xx for positive regulator, and 79xx for negative. the xx gives you the voltage they are supposed to be putting out. They commonly fail, also check the same for dry solder joint. resolder them anyway if you are unsure. If all the regulators check out, then also check low value flame proof resistors in the power supply rails. Get back to me here again and let me know how you got on. Good Luck

Assuming I am looking at the same diagram for a 'Compact' amp....the circuit you are looking at is unrelated to GL1.

The two diodes rectify 10VAC from the transformer to a rectified +12V DC which supplies the mechanism. To blow both diodes I can only assume that you have a dead short to ground or -Ve somewhere.

Check both diodes and fuse are good with the mechanism plug disconnected. You should get 12vdc at the cathode of the diodes.

I don't know about the diodes you are using but 1N4001 or 1N4002 or 1N4003 should work fine.

The 12VDC comes out on pin 2 and pin 4 of the mechanism plug. Make sure the diodes are the RIGHTway round or you'll end up with MINUS12V.

High pitch sound even with speakers disconnected

1.the problem with your audio processing circuits and improper power filter
2. Check audio amplifier coupling capacitors
3. Rectifier capacitors
