Behringer EP2500 no output on CHANNEL 1

I have rebuild the push/pull power drivers on channel 1 of my ep2500. They were blown and tripping the cct breaker when a speaker was connected. All the power transistors and fets are now good. I can find no other defective discrete components (diodes, resistors, caps etc). The amp powers on fine both channels clip leds momontarily flash but CH1 still has no output. I am testing using a off pwr impedance curve signature tester and a multi meter. All the discreet components on the top and lower etch all look fine. When I switch off the channel 2 clip led slowly gets brighter over about 15-20 secs but chan 1 clip just blips once. Any ideas? Could it be the op amps on the lower etch??? Can I use a scope to check the op amps are working ok if so what component on the top etch do I clip on to. Regards, Eddie Grice UK

Re: Behringer EP2500 no output on CHANNEL 1

Oski has the right idea.
Check op amp outputs for some version of the input signal.
Check the plus /minus supplies for the power transistors and see if they match the other channel.
See if the input signal is getting to the bases of the driver transistors

Re: Behringer EP2500 no output on CHANNEL 1

Check all op amps for correct voltage swing +-should be equal, test output of op amps no voltage should be present, use chasis gnd as tester neg.check voltage regulation especially 12v or 15v +-.note some amps show unequal led indications when only 1 channel connected to a load.I will try to get some more info on this specific amp because i don't know this circuit well, keep in touch as you update though.

I have EP2500 amp i want to use it to push 6 tops, what should i switch it to? one channel must push 3 tops and the other as well pushing 3 tops.

OK, you can use ep2500 amp to power 3 tops each,But the only challenge is that you are about to over load your amplifier. might get hot too fast .

You can use a cooling system to make it not too hot..It also depends on how the event your using it for...Using 3 EP2500 amplifier to drive three 6 top, using two top for each amplifier. Just a suggestion.

Using 2 amplifier, you will need to drive on one channel to drive 2 tops, and 1 top for the other channel.

That will do. But make sure you turn on the volume of the amplifier to the max volume ,so that it will be able to work properly for your tops...

Behringer EP2500 Clip light Channel 2 stays on & heatsink HOT!

There are so many components that can fail that troubleshooting this can be an expensive problem.

HINT: Put a 150 Watt light bulb in series with the power going into to limit current for/during troubleshooting.

Go through and compare the voltages on the teo channels. If power amp transistors have failed, likely the driver transistors also are gone.

Testing components in-circuit is very dificult. Resistors are pretty reliable and usually show damage by discoloration.

Furhter use before repairing MAY cause further damage.

Trips on power up

It has a short circuit on the final steps of the outputs, maybe the common called "final transistors or power amplification IC (integrated Circuits)"are blown. You don't have the ability to resolve this problem, so take the unit to a facility authorized repair.

What are the Behringer EP2500's output stage transistors?

Faichild/Toshiba make the output transistors for the ep2500, part numbers 2SA1943 and the 2SC5200. Beware though there are a lot of dodgy fakes around on ebay. Profusion are excellent. Heres the links for them.
