My Panasonic camera is exactly one year old and has worked fine until yesterday. I started out with a full battery, used it a few times during the day to shoot about a dozen photos. When I tried to review the photos that night, the camera wouldn't power up. I've tried charging the battery, but no luck. I tested the battery with a voltmeter and it reads 4.15 volts (+ and - terminals or + and T terminals) so the battery appears fine. Is there any reset function not listed in the owner's manual?

Im a home inspector by trade and I love the pic's the TZ1 takes, untill one day on the job the screen froze, so I pulled the battery and would not turn on when I replaced the battery. I tapped the side of the camera a few times and then it came on, so it finished the job I was on. Next job, the camera did not want to turn on, so I tapped the sides again, nothing, cleaned the battery contacts with a pencil eraser, and replaced the battery with a spare. It worked, great. next job the camera wont turn on at all with any battery, or hitting or kicking. Time for the TZ5.

Mine will power up and LCD works, but none of the other button work... can't take picture, zoom, use menu or any other button. About 1 year old

Wont turn "ON" I have 2 batteries, they are good per voltage reading...
Best Buy had it 3 weeks for the problem to resolve, came back unresolved. They have a very bad reputation,I dont want anything to do with them anymore.Have a 4 year service contract with them, they wont allow me to ship it to them, to drive to deliver it is 140 miles round trip, the cost is prohibitive to travel, already have spent more than that on gas....
Is this problem resolvable at a reasonable price ? this camera is only 1 1/2 years old.
Please advise..Thankyou heyjudeea@frontiernet.net

Definitely have the same problem. Bought it in August 2006, and just died last week, over the course of about a week.
It was great while it lasted but it's time to buy a new camera and I'm pissed.

same problem. can't turn it on. it was fine then not working for no obvious reason. i think it's a faulty panasonic design. or bad parts. can't be fixed except for more than price of a new camera. was a nice camera for a short time but junk now.

So,I am not interested in spending anymore on this "WHITE ELEPHANT"
Seems that there would be a legal way to take action against Best Buy if people would stick together into a class action suit.
In due respect, every one complains about the problems but no one is willing to take steps "UNIFIED" to get action..
What do you think ?????

same problem. DMC-tz1 won't turn on. totally dead. tried 2 good, charged batteries but nothing happens. camera worked then it didn't. no apparent reason. maybe a design flaw. probably an expensive throw away model from panasonic because it's too expensive to

Took the same steps, checked the battery, even ordered a new one. The camera just doesn't respond at all.
