I downloaded Internet Explorer 8. When it opened it all my Favorites had migrated to the tool bar at the top of the screen.
The Links file is greyed out so that I can't access the subfiles and the Favorites tool bar is gone so I can't add anything to or organize Favorites. I tried restoring to any earlier date but that didn't help.
Any suggestions on how to get things back the way they were?
You can show or hide the Menu bar, Favorites or Links bar, Command bar, and status bar. Here's how:
Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Internet Explorer.
Click the Tools button, point to Toolbars, and then click the toolbar you want to show or hide.

same problem......installed I.E. 8 and now Favorites sidebar is gone and all my favorites are now in the Favorites tab between "View" and "Tools". Favorites sidebar opens with nothing in it.
I had the same problem of the favorites bar appearing at the top of the screen after downloading 8. Somehow I got it back to the side, not quite as before, don't really know what I did. But 'organize favorites' is gone. Where did that go and how can I get it back?
I hid my "Favorites" list, pinned to the left side of the screen, and can't get it back.
