SOURCE: Camera Screen

The following procedure works on the V603. It uses the same LCD screen as the V803 & V1003.

It would appear you have a damaged LCD screen. The same problem happened to my daughter's V803. The camera will take pictures fine but you will only be able to see them if you download them onto a PC. A replacement screen can be easily ordered and replaced. Call Eastman Kodak. Their parts department can be reached at (800) 431-7278 ext 3. Tell them the model number of your camera and tell them you want to order a LCD screen for it. The cost of the new screen is $31.00 + $15.00 shipping. Don't let them talk you into sending it back for repair. You are looking at a repair bill over $80.00. To replace the screen, remove all of the small philips head screws that are in the chrome band that runs around the center ridge of the camera. After removing the screws, you will be able to separate the rear half of the camera from the front half. The LCD screen is pressed into a rubber gasket in the rear half of the camera. You will see that there is a small, flat orange ribbon cable that connects the old LCD screen to a black connector on the camera's motherboard. Using a VERY small flat blade screw driver, pry up the top tab on black connector. This will unlock the connector and allow you to remove the flat ribbon cable from the black connector. Remember the orientation of the old screen and its cable, as you will want to replaced the new screen and cable exactly the way the original was installed. Using the same small flat blade screw driver, pry out the old display. Install the new display into the rubber gasket into the back half of the camera. Insert the ribbon cable into the mother board's black connector and press down on the panel to lock the cable into place. Lay the rear half of the camera face down on the table (rear buttons facing down) and place the front half of the camera over top of the rear half. This will allow you to put the camera back together and help prevent the new LCD screen from falling back out. The LCD screen has pads attached to the surface behind it. When you reinstall the front half of the camera, those pads help hold the LCD screen in place with pressure from the motherboard. Replace all of the screws. If you did it correctly, the camera will operate like new. Last word of advice. Buy a padded hard shell case for this camera. These cameras are well known for LCD screen failures due to shocks and drops.

Good Luck!

SOURCE: DX6440 LCD screen is Black

As I suspected, the flexible circuit board which connects the fluorescent back light to the power source was severed. Although it didn't appear broken at first, the LCD came on as I poked the flex board. I removed a small amount of insulation and reconnected the two copper leads. Problem solved.
The flex board I speak of is an amber colored ribbon; it can withstand high temperatures and is quite durable. There are two copper leads embedded in the ribbon. One end of the ribbon is sealed within the LCD, the other end terminates in a locking surface mount connector. You can unlock the connector by pulling back on the little brown latch. If you have a severed flex board, be extremely careful in repairing the connection. Once you begin removing the amber coating, it becomes fragile.

When i switch on my Vivitar Vivicam 7024, it switches on normaly and resumes normal function (e.g. taking photos, videos, and looking at images). but the screen itself is damaged, it has a large black...

I'm sorry to say that but the screen of your camera appears to be damaged.
May be YOU didn't drop it, but someone else might have. Most probably the screen was pressed hard against something (might be while stored). That's what the black circle and colour lines suggest. The colour lines are somewhat like colours you see when oil is put on water, isn't it? That means the LCD screen is damaged.
I suggest to take it to repair shop and get the screen replaced, specially if you don't have experience repairing cameras.

Lcd screen not showing any image

Can you use the LCD screen to review photos by pressing the play button on the left?

If you can then getting the image to be viewed after it is takencan be fixed by a simple setting.

I have an XTi so yours should be almost identical:

Press the "Menu" button.
Press the button on the right side of the circle to move to the playback menu (looks like a play button)
Press down to "review time"
Press the "set" button (in the center of the circle)
choose an amount of time or hold (too keep it on the screen until you take the next picture) if you wish.
Press the "set" button
Press the "menu" button to exit the menu and that should fixya.

Pentax Optio s50 The LCD display has lost some pixels and now has a circle of black spots on the screen. Is there anyway to fix this or is it time for a new camera? I can't just look through the view...

If pictures taken in Auto mode look the same on a computer (or when printed) as on the LCD display a Sensor fault is indicated. If the Computer image is OK the LCD display on the camera is faulty.
Assuming your camera is out of guarantee you could request a quote for repair but beware the "Minimum Charge" some suppliers impose just to tell you how much it will cost.

Sony DSC-W70 LCD Problem

You will need to describe what you see on the LCD in more detail in order for me to tell you what the problem is. There are two different issues that can cause things like what you are seeing. 1: Cracked LCD. You will see lines which resemble cracked glass. You will see bright vivid colors with specks of black or stark white all over. The image problems may be only in one portion of the screen. The LCD is made of glass, so if you look closely and see patterns that look like broken glass - this is your issue. Replace the LCD. 2: Bad LCD connection. You will see distorted colors, the screen may blank out and flicker when you shake the camera or press on the housing near the screen. If neither of these describe what you are seeing, post back and give more details and I will respond further. David Millier Advance Camera Repair
