Question about Hitachi 60V500 60" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
I have seemed to developed a "yellowing" screen. when the tv is on with no source running you can see a yellow colour which is in like an oval that takes up about 70% of the screen or so. When we are watching satellite or a movie or running a gaming system the problem is the same with each. This I guess makes my problem mean that it is the tv which is damaged some way or another. Any ideas on what can be wrong and possible approximate cost of fix? We bought this tv like mabye 2 years ago for $3999.99 and its in very good condition so if this is going to cost alot to fix then what would you say would be the most we should spend? eg. if it costed us like $2000 to fix then would you say buy a new tv? Thanks for your assistance with this problem, Nathan.
You have a problem with the optical engine- The only repair would be to change the engine for about $500-$1,000 plus labor. This is a major repair (sometimes caused by dust particles getting on the LCD panels inside the engine, but disassembling the engine to try and clean it is not a reasonable option)
