I hooked the ps3 to the philips tv. turned on the ps3, AV1 displays in the corner. Nothing else happens, I am expecting the ps3 logo

give this a try...

Leave the TV running, go over to your PS3 and turn it off.

Once its off, hold the power button down till you hear a beep, KEEP HOLDING THE POWER BUTTON till you hear a double beep. The PS3 will shut itself off.

Give the device a couple of seconds, then hit the power button one last time (just turn it on, you don't have to hold it).

If all went right, your baby is back up and running...

My Philips TV will not turn on

More than likely it's activating the protection circuitry. Most of the time televisions won't give you a sign of trouble until something actually breaks. One day they work and the next they might not. There could be a problem in the power supply or the scan section which are both internal that would inhibit operation to prevent your set from overheating and causing a problem external to the TV like a fire. If your set is over 10 years old, replace it. If it's quite new but out of warranty then get an estimate at a reliable electronics repair store.

We just switched from Cox Cable to AT&T U-Verse. We have a several sets throughout the house. Once the TV codes are programmed into the remotes, the U-Verse receiver and the TV are supposed to turn on and...

Yes there is, at&t techs have issues with philips/magnavox. When you are programming these tv's, you will notice if u get the right code on this particular brand, the light on the tv will blink but not turn on. This is the correct code but, the simultaneous action wont work, you'll have to hit tv first by itself and then hit power. Don't know why, but it is what it is.

Turning on TV after power outage

Not sure what you mean by "older", but I assume it's a CRT display. It takes some time for a picture tube to come up from a completely cold start. It has to get all of those electrons hot enough to start flying around, and also build up a high voltage on the screen. You don't notice it in normal operation because the power button doesn't really turn everything off, but just puts the set in standby mode. Unplugging, though, lets everything cool off completely.

If you're talking real antiques, with tube-type amplifiers, then the warmup time could be even longer. I remember as a kid watching the blank screen for a couple of minutes before a picture appeared.

What you describe sounds like normal behavior for a CRT television. Not sure what's up with that flickering red light, though.

Tv not powering on

as per your statement there is a loose contact in power supply section of your tv. it is 1oo% sure that allthe parts are ok as tv runs ok when it comes on. but you will have to call tech. as without knowing technology it is dangerous to open tv due to high voltage.

Philips 30PW9815 30" TV No Video

Hi there, the repair is possibble. One cause for the above mentioned error can be: no heating at CRT. Check R3466 (large signal panel). If defective replace following components: R3466 - 1R, L5466 - 10uH and R3467 - 1R. The other cause can be the defective CRT(cathode ray tube) ir there is a high voltage. If you need more info please advice. If you need the Service Manual please leave your email. Best regards, Arpi (your technical support)

Call back the store and tell them to bring you another one. If you paid by credit card tell them you are going to dispute the bill if they dont come out and pick up this TV and bring you a new one.

Turn off 5-6 seconds after I turn on tv

Typical relay power problem on these sets for the relay power. most of the time, its the capacitor in the standby power supply that supplys the main 12 to 15 volts to the relay for the main power supply.. Problem is it is not a repair that can be done or understod by a layman in electronics. its a repair for an experienced tech as a TV set is not a place to be experimenting in.
