I have this TV connected to my computer and bought it to be a display at 1080p and 120hz. It shows it will only connect at 60hz... What do I have to change to get it to go to 120hz at 1080p?
SOURCE: Connecting to PC
Hi Sarah, You may want to try lowering the resolution of your computer down first before connecting the 42PX5D. Since everything seems to be working except when you get to the desktop then your PC might be set to a resultion that's too high for the LG (am not 100% sure, but I think that LG's max res is 1024 X 768). Try to adjust your PC's resolution while still connected to a regular monitor, right click on any free/clear part of your desktop and click properties. Display Properties window will pop-up, click on Settings tab, adjust Screen resolution towards the left, trym lowest posiible, color quality, again lowest possible. Then hook it up to the LG. If desktop now displays in LG, do the same again but this time going up. Do it by increment and stop when LG screen goes blank. Press escape to go to setting prior to blank. Adjust color quality best setting acceptable to the LG. Good luck and hopes this work out for you. Regards.
SOURCE: PS3 problem with 42LG50 tv.
So I did finally find a solution....I returned my PS3 for a brand new one. Turns out it was my PS3. This is what I did...I bought a blue ray player, I connected the hdmi to my TV....no problem. So it wasnt my TV or HDMI cord. Returned the blue ray player for my money back, and returned my PS3 for a new one. Problem solved. Seems like alot of work, but it was the only way I could troubleshoot my issue. Just for kicks, try using another HDMI cord. I went through 3 different kind. Good luck.

SOURCE: how do I connect a sony dvd player a LG - 42"
Hello Mark,
If the DVD player has an HDMI OUT port, the best way would be to connect an HDMI cable from this port to one of the HDMI IN port on the TV. You will also need to switch the TV to the correct HDMI input mode.
If the DVD player does not have an HDMI port - or you do not have an HDMI cable - to get the best quality video, you should use either an S-VIDEO cable or COMPONENT AV cables. S-VIDEO also requires a separate audio cable, which can be either a standard RCA audio cable (red and white plugs) or a digital optical/coaxial cable - if your player has these ports. Component uses RCA type AV cables with 5 plugs on each end. 3 of these connect to the sockets labelled Pr/Cr Pb/Cb and Y on the back of the player and the back of the TV. The other two plugs connect to the Audio OUT ports on the back of the player and the audio IN ports on the back of the TV.
If you can let me know the model number of the Sony DVD player, I can draw you some diagrams if this would help you. I can also give instructions on the best settings to use according to which type of cable you use to connect and instructions for switching your TV to external input modes.
If you would like further assistance, please reply to me with the full model number of the Sony DVD player by clicking on "Add a Comment" below your question. Please also confirm the correct model number of your LG TV is 42LC2D.
Thanks,
BElectric
