Question about Bose Wave Radio

Open Question

AWR1-1W Bose buttons are not working properly after running on low power. Can this be fixed?

The radio was plugged into an outlet that was wired to a dimmer switch and it ran for several hours on the lowest (dimmest) setting... now the buttons won't work. The screen will show strange configurations when you plug it in... the last time it said "F:01" and now it says ":01" and "alarm." This is the version with the 9v battery. Any suggestions?

SOURCE: Bose AWR1-1W older version, not Series III, no power, pop when unplugged.

I've got a simillar problem... will be looking into it this weekend. U402 is supposed to be the 5Volt regulator.
The input to U402 is U401 its a 12Volt regulator.
You should check both...

SOURCE: Bose Wave radio humming noise

Actually the problem was caused by a bad 470uf cap, that was used to filter the powersupply for all the analog amps. Replaced the cap the unit works like new.

SOURCE: Bose radio display doesn't show at all

I just posted a similar problem and did 2 more minutes of research on this site to figure it out. Hold down the 'cd mode' and press the on/off button. This turns the display on or off.

SOURCE: 120v Bose Wave Radio/CD player plugged into 240V outlet

There is a fuse you can check. Also a rectifier bridge, a 3 terminal regulator IC (18V in, and 10V out) as well as a small transistor Q1 which often shorts. Easy and cheap fixes, or I would offer to buy your non-working model Bose if you decide to sell it.

Appliances plugged into the mains cause interference in the fm signal which means radio off if appliances in use. Also interference if Bose iPod plugged into mains next to radio.

You can buy an AC line conditioner, they range from cheap and useless to expensive and exotic, which is able to filter interference coming over the power lines. Simply plug that into the wall, and your radio into the filter, and there should be an improvement.

You can also try plugging the radio into a different outlet, making sure the outlets are wired properly, and try moving the radio to a new location further away from the source(s) of interference.

Bose will not tune and no sound

First make sure you haven't selected Aux or CD by mistake. Push the Radio button on the remote and try to tune. If that doesn't work, try unplugging the power cord. Wait 10 seconds, then plug it back in. This resets the system, which may fix your problem.

I have (7) 20W bulbs on a newly wired line running on a brand new 200W Malibu transformer, worked fine for 2 days and now it's tripping the reset button - Any suggestions ??

1) Copy following link for malibu power pack tips for longer transformer life:

2) Two plug choices on each outlet, Plug power pack into other outlet on receptacle.
Inspect for damage on outdoor outlet.
Replace outdoor outlet, and do not use quick connects. Connect wire directly to screws on side of device.
Replace GFCI outlet.

I plugged my radio into a plug on a dimmer. Now my radio won't come on at all. Did I fry the power supply?

Have you tried plugging it back into a regular outlet. The dimmer would not allow enough power through to power the radio and shouldn't have fried the power supply but I could be wrong

The Wave Radio uses the AC power cord as an antenna. Perhaps the two outlets are wired differently regarding ground and hot.

Considering all power is good, check for broken or fractured solder joints at interconnects between display and main PCB on BWR-I.
Check cold solder joints on U302 and U301(IC302, IC301).

Good Luck.
