Re: mpc4000

Hi, I had the same problem as deano12. No power on my MPC 4000. I fixed the problem myself for £2.49p! and it's a very easy DIY job, trust me..... Now its as good as new.

Here's how it's done:

Tools = Small posy screw driver.
Allen Key

#1 You will need to buy the following (T 2.5A 250V) fuse. You can get this from Maplin the code is GL63 and it's £2.49 for a pack of 10, but you will only need one.

Note: This fuse does not go in the plug, but is located inside the MPC on the left hand side next to the side panel. There is only one so you shouldn't miss it.

#2 Follow the link below to the MPC4000 service manual and follow the diagram instructions on how to dismantle you machine. This is just unscrewing about 30 small screws.

#3 Locate the fuse, take it out and replace it with a new one.

If your having trouble finding it, look on page 7 of the service manual and it's just behind the PC FILTER BLK.

#4 Follow the steps you took to dismantle it but in reverse.

Goodluck and have faith!

Re: mpc4000

Hi, have you tried a diferent power point {wall outlet], If all else fails you will need to test the internal power pack, If you can use a multimeter then the red wires are 6v, yellow wires 12v, black = negative, blue 5v grey is neutral and purple is 2v. If you cant do this then its off to your nearest technician. Goodluck, regards mistyman

No power when plugged in

If it is new take it back or read the manual. If it is second hand, then you may want to check to see if the internal fuse is intact. These power speaker units usually have an internal fuse to back up the one in the mains connector.

No power but works through usb

Checkthe 9volt dc adaptor with a volt meter to make sure it is supplying the unit with power. Does the power indicator light come on when you plug it into the wall? if the power adaptor is supplying power, then next i would check for an internal OR external fuse around where the power plugs in, also making sure the plug it plugs into is not loose or wiggling as this could mean the female portion of the plug may have bad soldering or has been broken. please post again here with your findings... Get a paperclip, straighten it, there is a little hole on the cd player, you can push the clip in and it will open.

Doesn´t work anymore

Hi. Forgive me for asking, but did you try unplugging everything, including the firewire, and plugging it in again?

If you try this and it doesn't work, try shutting your laptop down gracefully, then unplug all the Firebox connectors including the electricity. Wait about 10 seconds, then reboot your laptop. Don't open your recording software yet.

Connect the electricity and the firewire as described in the Firebox manual, and then open your recording software. If this doesn't work, something might be wrong with the Firebox.

The problem you have happens once in a while with mine--it seems to be connected with overheating or something. Anyone else have this problem?

Good luck!

Sound problems

try to check whether the power connection is somewhat loose or nearly loose in the plug, it affects somewhow. try to plug and unplug it it the outlet and see if its loosen. then you might need an adapter to keep it intact with the power outlet.

IMick on Mac Mini

Yes, it does work for the mini (I have the same). Drivers seem to be built into the system, so you don't need to download anything with OS X 3.9 or later. Make sure your switch on iMic is switched AWAY from the mike input plug, and you may try plugging your iMic directly into your MacMini (or through a powered 2.0 hub).

Good luck.
