Freezer's power is dead

Checked voltage drop across connections to back of fridge and have voltage. No internal light, or any sign of operation what so ever. Is there a module that controls freezers operation that could cause such a problem? Where should I start after confirming the source of the problem is not from outside the freezer?

I turned a switch in the back of self defroster receptacle and it turned back on. Just so happen that the light bulb in the freezer burned out at the same time the defroster timer failed to reset. I guess it was a power surge or something that could cause all that at once. Thanks Buffalo12980 saved me alot of money.

Check the plug itself may be melted. next check the cord itself at terminations inside the freezer compressor section. if it's plugged into a gfci try resetting the gfci receptacle. check breaker, may have tripped off.

Engel fridge trips power when mains power turned on. Fridge set in off position.

There is a dead short line to line or line to ground. The dead short can be detected with a electric continuity tester connected across the load side of the mains (power shut off) and opening covers and inspecting the wiring.

I have a frigidaire fridge freezer. Its about 3 yrs old and has stopped working. I have done all the usual like checked the fuse. Before it stopped working had moved it across the kitchen..has moving it...

Hi!!

Did you plugg unit back to the wall outlet?? Is that outlet working??? Did the plug got damaged when disconnected?? Check unit's power cable for continuity. Check freezer temp. controls.

You can plug and unplug your unit as many times as you want an you should not have any problems.. Check the above mentioned items, I think it is where your problem resides.

you have more than likely ruined the control board on the refrige,a dryer and refrigerator should each be on their own dedicated circuit, they use an enormous amount of current to start, and even if one is running and the other starts thats enough to trip even a 30 amp receptacle, and furthermore extension cord use on these types of appliances even a large gauge cord i.e. 12 ga. that will carry 20 amps is not even a good idea because of voltage drop,as this causes motors to draw excessive current and over heat the motors and reduce appliance efficiency too

I want to use my freezer for beer. Can I raise the temperature by changing the thermostat? Any other suggestions besides using a fridge?

Not sure of your make/model. If its a standalone freezer you could exchange the termostat with a Fridge, or you could jury rig a seperate line voltage thermostat with probe in the compartment, which you would plug the fridge into and would override the internal thermostat (internal thermostat would always be calling for cooling because the line voltage thermostat would be set higher--any time the temp increased above the set point on the line voltage tstat the relay would close and the freezer would run). An anti freeze alarm coupled to a simple relay or contactor would work for this purpose... depending on how handy you are I could explain all the necessary components...

Ice maker not making ice

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips and replace it if it does.

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

Freezer doesn't run

If you got power to the unit i would put a jumper wire in the thermostat ( unplugged the unit ,open the housing where the thermostat or cold control is ,and youll see two wires connecting to it ,put a jumper wire between both with electrical tape to insulated and plugg it in , if it works replace the thermostat with the same new one ) That's the most common problem when there's power and everythig else is dead.

Fridge/freezer won't cool completely or freeze

Things to look for and fix yourself woulf be to clean the coils on the bottom and check the fan motor on bottom, make sure it is ok, Look on back of the freezer walls for frost buildup, a sign the defrost heater is dead.
