The remote is nothing more than a device to change the contents display face. The code for the unit is embedded into the unit behind it, so the old code will work. It will not even notice you changed the remote control. If you bought a remote control for a different Kenwood audio, then it is a lottery. You can program a bespoke remote, they are set to one device, or a range of devices sharing the same code.

The RC-553 remote isn't in stock but should ship in 10 days. Other sites that sell replacement remotes list the RC-553 for sale. Kenwood used to have preset passwords as 1234
pressing the stop button ( if you have one ) for 30 seconds.

With this post i presume you are on about in dash monitors!
the DDX6039 and DDX7039 will connect in the same way.
however the remotes are different, the 6039 uses remote rc-dv430 and the 7039 uses an rc dv330.
