TV is aprox. 1 1/2 yrs old. Working fine then the picture went black but the sound was fine. Trying checking power cord, cable card and cable into tv. Nothing else hooked to tv. Menu does not come up, no images or colors on screen at all. Any suggestions?

Re: Audio but no video
If the screen is not illuminated this can be from the screen power supply, the main screen driver board, or the screen itself has failed. The service rep will change boards to service this, and adjust as necessary.

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis. http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/ http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.
1,If you still have the old tv, reconnect.
2 turn on power after connecting cables making sure audio goes into ado and video into video.- very important.
3. do you get the pic, and sound?
4 if you do, do the settings to your choice.
will talk about new if the old does not work, good luck lindamilo.
I sugest you to change the video resolution settings on the PS-3 to see if TV sets to any one resolution...if you have any other video out (analog from PS3)...connect the out to TV and check video at different resolutions. If PS3 has Deep Color settings turn it OFF.
SOLUTION: I have a P42HDTV10A that i purchased in 8/06. It went out for the 1st time 9/08, then again on 3/09, then again on 5/09. The same issue, audio but no pic. I appears that this has to do with either the "Y" and "Z" boards. 1st & 2nd times Y board was replaced, then 3rd time the "Z" board. I have now found out that you need to replace both at once because one is the reason why the other gives out and no one can tell why it happened. Parts can be ordered from www.encompassparts.com . I found a 113 pg vizio repair manual that i can send you in case you are interested at trying this. By the way, i purchased ext.warranty for 5 yrs so it has costed me 0...but for those that do not have the warranty and are mechanically inclined give it a shot. It will cost about $400 to buy both
